i searched but didn't see any recent posts about this, so i'm sorry if this has been asked a lot.
what type of gas milage do you guys get on your C5s? what about from daily drivers? anyone see improvements after adding an aftermarket exhaust or intake?
With the original 2.73 rear in my 03 A4 coupe, I got 29 mpg straight highway. Now, with a 3.42 rear, Vararam intake, TI exhaust and a good tune that makes the car run alot faster, the mpg are down quite a bit. I haven't taken the car on a leisurely long cruise, but on a usual NE forum run, not cruise, from jersey to Carlisle, it ended up getting about 23 mpg.
2000 M6 FRC,,,Easy city will net 20-23(actual calculated,,DIC is usually 1.2 to 1.5 "happy")With easy rt foot and some skipping gears(but there is always a little frisky driving in there, just CAN'T resist sometimes) Highway ,did an 1100 mi round trip over the Smoky Mts. at some "pretty brisk speeds and still managed an overall 29 with one tank at 30 with 2 people ,luggage and A/C.Closer to the speed limit would have netted 30s. Will be doing this trip again this winter,,can't wait to see. Win win ,,the wife gets to visit her sister,,I get to drive the vet LOL!!
I go along with the 21-23 city. Took a 200 mile trip about 2 weeks ago and got 32.2 by the DIC. That was driving 60 in a 60, 65 in a 65, and 75 in a 70 speed zone. Car is a stock 2000 with 6M trans.
did a mostly highway trip on the weekend and only got 23mpg... thought I should be doing alot better. I do have a couple codes showing(running rich codes) and my plugs are probably old. So after i do the plug swap is should improve.

i just searched this thread and there were at least 5 pages.
Click the "search this thread", put in gas mileage and you'll have reading material for a week.
Bottom line, i get better mileage than my wifes honda.
I have a 140 thousand on mine, a number of mods. I have not reset my avg mpg in 2 years, and it sits right around 24. I do about 80 miles a day, half freeway, and half towns.
Damn good commute!!!!
Of course now that the state of Oregon has found the money for a bunch of new state troopers, I guess I will get 26 or 27 as a average.
i get 33 on the highway in 6th gear at a little under 1500 rpms. but around town 18-19 mpg. gentle driving. 18 seems kinda low. how are you guys getting 23+ city driving?
Well if your getting around or over 30 on the highway, I would say check it with a calculator. Your DIC is probably off. These sound just like abnormal cases. GM does not even claim this and quite honestly I have seen most C5's (stock mind you and in perfect working/tuning order) run around 25mpg. Mine personally on a 100 mile trip gets about this as well. I normally average 24-26 highway on the DIC. This is with me really baby'n it and in 6th gear of course.
Mine follows GM's 2002 Gas Mileage Ratings:
For 2002's
6Speed Coupes: 18 MPG city / 25 MPG highway
Z06's: 19 MPG city / 23 MPG highway
For those showing the high numbers congrats or not so congrats as your DIC/fuel system just may not be as well calibrated as others?
I dunno, is it possible to actually get 30 mpg out of our vettes on the highway...maybe. But for the majority, I think the 25 mpg reading is dead on.
I tried like others to get more out of mine. Its been tuned, every possible component up to spec, yet still only gets 25...oh well...its does what GM says it is suppose to do, so that works for me
