Well I guess I have lived my dream and it MIGHT be time to move on. I currently have two Vettes, both paid for. I am really struggling with selling both and moving on. I always wanted one but now that I have had it I guess I am over it. I do love to drive them, I have done the show thing and that has become very boring. So we will just have to wait in see.
Cadillac Escalades are on employee pricing now and it is really tempting. Anyone reading this interested in a show quality Corvette, red or black, 03 or 04, shoot me a pm. You just MIGHT just get a great deal, chrome, custom paint and all the goodies.
yeah.. These cars are Horrible. I'll be keeping my DD for a very long time. Then, when ready, upgrade to the next version of Corvette that I can.
These make GREAT DD's when you live in south central Texas. Roads are decent enough, they get GREAT gas mileage and snow is not an issue in the winter.
Sold my 99 in June of 07. Realized it was a mistake, so I bought another one in February 08.
You may not get many chances in life to correct a mistake like selling a prized car, and I didnt want to be one of those guys you meet at cars shows with the "Never should have sold it" attitude.
Though its just a car, it represented alot to me, a trip back in time before marrige and mortgage.......life did go on without it, but not as much fun......
you've said "we have more room in the garage"-so I assume (maybe wrong) that it's not just your decision.Selling a c5 and being happy for more space in the garage sounds pretty lame...
I have basically grown up kids and happily divorced for 15 years-yes,there are lady's around, but none tells me what to do....
In my garage (and outside) resides:2000 C5, 2004 F150 supercrew FX4, and 1994 Jeep Wrangler on 33" tires. On the side there is a Honda Valkyrie all custom with 6 cyl engine-and the BEST part-all paid for!!!!
Life is short.............
I know the feeling......My car is getting a new 408 Iron Block and I miss driving it........I better get used to it because Im going to be selling it as soon as I get it running.................I be replacing it with a C6 Z06! !

Good post. It's been about 2 1/2 months now since I sold mine after owning it for 7 1/2 years. I can't say I don't miss it - it was a big part of my life for so long and I loved the car.
But like you, I just didn't drive it enough to justify keeping it and paying insurance, taxes, etc on it. Someday I sure hope to get into another Vette, whether it be another C5 or a newer generation. Life does go on for sure.
