1. I got the dreaded reduced power light while sitting at a traffic light. The car turned off and I started it up immediately without issue.
2. I've read many posts that indicated that many others who also got the "reduced engine power" light said it was a one time event and nothing else has happened since.
3. While driving on Friday, all of the indicator lights on the dash flashed on and off, the by Corvette sign came on and also went out immediately. This happened twice while driving for about 60 miles.
4. I'm paranoid because driving on the Washington, DC beltway isn't place you want to break down at.
5. My bigger concern is trying to be proactive and taking the car to the dealership and tell them to find the problem. This is a very unattractive proposition to me because I'm sure it's like trying to find a needle in an electronic haystack. Additionally, I think it to be cost prohibitive as well.
6. I intend on checking codes and grounding this afternoon.
I've had my car for four years now and have gotten the Reduced Engine Power "problem" about 5 or 6 times now spread out at a rate of about roughly once per year and it's never materialized into anything serious. I also get the "service traction control system" and "service ABS system" problem show up about once a year too, and that also has never turned into a bigger problem.
I just simply shut off the engine and restart it when they happen, and it always goes away for a long time.
Happened to me once in ten years of ownership. Just turning into the drive when it happened. Turned off the key, restarted and it was fine. I just assumed it was a freak, one time deal so I didn't go looking for a cause.
