[QUOTE=BigYellaJeep;1567020386]Like what everyone else said...

Highish miles
Coupe
Nothing special with it

I'd say $17K

QUOTE]

Is this the first vette to look at? I wouldnt mind spending extra if it was the right car...see my notes below. Also, keep looking if this is only look 1 or 2

I got static for mine @ $22k with 23k miles 1997... but had all the original docs, maint records, borla exhaust, z06 rims (OEM, not aftermarket with new tires), and not a scratch inside or out, or under! Engine capartment looked like it came off the manufacturing line. All history checking that I did panned out to what the owner stated during the negotiations as well -- carfax (although I believe one should look at this but not take this as the bible). This was car # 15 I looked at.

Default Wonder why prices are dropping on corvettes...

For people who say bid $17 or in that range ,,,

That's why the prices are dropping like a rock, if every one starts low balling, before you know it that will be the norm and a new low level will be established. I would say $21k is a fair price. Just think about your vettes and what you would be willing to sell for. Everyone is bitching how low their vettes are selling but your doing it to yourselves.

If I was shopping for a vette, then I'm not about to spend way more money just because someone on a forum told me to...it's called supply and demand, and unfortunately the supply is up and the demand down. That's stupid to spend more in order to "attempt to bring the resale value up" or whatever that would hope to accomplish. There are other reasons/factors that the cars are depreciating and it doesn't have anything to do with someone trying to get a good deal.

No offense to you silverbullit, but I just can't believe you said that...if you are rich and have money to waste, then go you, but some of us don't and thus wait for a good deal.

In this case (OP's car) I would pass and wait for something else to show up.

Okay car dealers drive me crazy....

We went back and forth and the cheapest they went on the car was $19,500.

But for that price they only wanted to give $2000 trade value on my truck.

They then came up with some wierd scheme to roll the balance on my truck into the corvette and have me keep both....

So I took it home to show wife and talk to her,we decided there just wasn't really any upside to this particular car and the deal and I returned it...

Not so fast of course as the dealer then came up with paying $4500 for my truck but me paying the original asking price of $21,900....

Funny thing is this, the dealership says they cannot go below $18,900 on the car but are offering me $4500 on my truck, payoff on my truck is $4160 which means they are in effect selling the vette for $17740.

He is supposed to call back in an hour or so but I cannot stand being pressured(they brought this car down from one of their other dealerships and it 'HAS TO' go back tomorrow) to make a deal.

Sounds a little high to me since I recently had a dealer offer me $19k for my very nice '02 35,000 mile mag red Vert. He started at $15k and worked up to the $19k. I told him "no thanks"

A buddy of mine just picked up an 01 Black Z06 for $19k.

Okay...$19,500 out the door....of course that is without my trade.

However they are willing to do me a favor and roll the negative equity into the loan amount...which amazingly comes to $21,900

It seems no matter what, they wangle the figures to come up to the same price...

He is going to call back and I am going to say thanks but no thanks.

If needed,I will wait and pay off my truck.

Thinking about it,I don't really want to be without a truck.

Got my 2000 coupe two years ago with 79,333 miles. Owner was asking 21,000. Ending up paying 19,600 after negotiating. Did not have HUD, but it does now, thanks to help from Josh Meeks (PaceThis). Also has A4, which gets a higher price than the six speed manual.

My .02 worth.

Hmmm... the 6 speed was a spendy option for the C5 so I don't understand how it could be more expensive to get the A4.

We're in a recession with high gas prices. Not everyone has the option (or the stupidity) of offering more than the car is worth.

High miles, 6 year old car... like the others said: $17K-18K sounds fair. Otherwise, keep looking.
