There's currently a 98 Aztec Gold vert on the big auction site going for just under $11K. If I had the cash in hand, I'd jump on it. Only 3 more hours left on the auction.

Read the magazine story,,it just fell victim to modern assembly methods! If they still did it the old way,,painting the whole car on site there would have been more. But since different part are painted at their manufacturing sites they couldn't keep it consistent in appearance! Personally that color wouldn't be my first (or second either) choice,,but they were interesting!!

Pontiac made a Solar Gold TA back in 78 that had similar problems. Could never get the paint to match especially after repair or touch up. It was a nice color though.

Too bad GM couldn't get the gold paint to match on all the panels - I think it was a great color for the C5. Saw one of the Aztec Gold cars at Kerbeck's years ago.
There were less Navy Blue Corvettes made in 1998 then Aztec gold.
True, but they made a lot more Navy Blue Corvettes overall so it's not really a rare color, it's just rare to find one in that particular year.
A friend of mine bought the ONLY Navy Blue Metallic Formula WS6 ever made in 1998, he factory ordered it and they told him it wasn't available in that color but he kept pressing the issue and somehow they ended up actually producing it! But the following year they offered it to everyone, so his "one of a kind" car wasn't quite so special anymore. It was still the only NBM WS6 in 98, but when you saw the car on the road you'd never know if it was a 98 or a 99-02.
