If no reply, try going over to the C5 'tech' side. I would also get a Vin history at any chev dealer on the car.

And also check out the 'Sticky' way on top in this section. It starts out....Weight, Measurements....etc.

BTW: Welcome to CF and the corvette world. Sorry you're having problems right oft the bat but don't feel alone. Some of the brand new C6's have their problems too.

Do you get any DIC codes? If not, try injector cleaner, and a new air filter. Just a thought. Sorry you are having problems with your new toy.

Welcome to the Fourm. Please take some time to fill out your profile, as it will help us to figure out what car you have, and what options you may be dealing with.

You mentioned that you are trying to brake-torque the car and it's not roasting the tires, right? I am assuming you have an automatic transmission, is that correct? Probably a 2.73 rear end gear ratio.

The C5 automatic cars came with a feature called 'torque management' that is designed to protect your drivetrain from damage. It's basically a 'sliding scale' that takes into account the 'requested' throttle position, your vehicle speed, and the torque being applied. At low speeds (or no speed) the computer won't apply full throttle because it knows that it will roast the tires and may potentially cause damage to the transmission and/or rear end. So it scales it back until you are rolling... THEN it gives you full power.

This is something that you can have 'tuned out' using HP Tuners or another tuning package. There are a LOT of tuners out there that can do the same thing... and for less than you would spend on HP Tuners.

One more thing: an automatic with 2.73 gears is setup for (gas mileage... oops) speed, not necessarily for drag racing. Two mods that (I hear) make a huge difference is going to a 3.42 rear end and a higher stall converter. I have purchased the rear end... getting ready to buy the torque converter.

Do a search for 'torque management' for more information.

Fasthotrod knows what he is talking about. I too have a 99 with an automatic and was disappointed with the "out of the hole" experience. I even had the 3.15 "performance" axle. I went to a 3.42 rear and at the same time did some reprogramming with a Predator reducing the torque management and what an amazing difference! Tires give a good chirp even with the TC on. Best mod for the money in my opinion. Have a nice cold air and exhaust, BUT the gears are by far the best way to go. Now feels like a Vette should.
