I have a 2002 c5 convertible. Just wondering what anyone reccomends as the best top cleaner and protector for their C5 Top. I would love to hear your opinions of what you use with the best results.
Thanks....
Raggtopp kit for cloth tops.
Let it THOROUGHLY dry between steps. I waited over night.
Hang out an old sheet or two out from under the top to completely protect the finish when applying the protectant. I took the time to mask of the glass as well. It's fairly easy.
Definitely Raggtop kit for cloth. For vinyl (usually white tops) use warm soap and water, go over stubborn spots gently with a "magic eraser" or similar product. Let dry. Optional: Then go over the top with a vinyl protectant treatment like Armour All or similar. Let it sit for about an hour or so to penetrate. Give it a final once over with a not too damp towel, this will remove any oiliness and leave a subtle sheen. (If you don't do this last step the protectant may tend to attract dirt.)
Raggtopp is best but it is hard to find locally. they have both a cleaner and a protectant.
Some Mercedes and BMW dealers stock it.
Otherwise you need to order it online from forum vendors like autogeek or from the national corvette museum.
I have also used Aerospace 303 convertible top cleaner and protector it also works very well and is widely available at most national auto parts chains.
NOTE after wasing let the top dry thoroughly.. for at least 48hrs before applyin ght eprotectant.. otherwise it will seal in moisture that may result in mold that discolors the top
I have a 99 vert with a black top (original). I bought the Raggtop products kit from Amazon...includes both a cleaner and a protectant...and applied them this spring when the car was ready to come out and play. Fantastic stuff. Top looks like new and beads water amazingly well.
