Your nuts if you just do flat. You need to use a clear with the flattening agent in it. If you don't, the 1st bird dump will be there forever (or tree sap, or tar, or ......)

I'm not THAT nuts. Thats why im posting here to get info haha.
If you use normal black with the flattening agent-there is literally NO difference between a factory paint job and what you'll get except is won't shine. You can wash/wax just like a normal car BUT, it will still be suseptable to whatever normal clear would. There will be things that get into it that you won't be able to wetsand and buff out like regular clear since it won't look the same.
Like what some others have already stated it's just an agent added to the clear coat to make it flat. I believe it's actually a matteing agent. So the black comes out matte black.
Clear Coat = shiney
Clear Coat w/ matteing agent = flat / no shine
I've thought of this a couple times actually. Goodluck with your progess and whatever you do
Love flat black---Home depot has cases of flat black--no run on sale--Would take 4 cases with 2 brushes or spray, your choice for 120.00--how can you beat that--Make sure you get 10 cans of clear spray--Get white wall tires and you will have a show stopper or maybe a show winner--chip foose would be proud

I have no idea how to do it or maintain it, but good call asking questions if you are going to do it, do it right. Someone here has a wicked looking one

I have seen one and thought that it looked very cool. I just couldn't see myself having one.
I've seen several pics of Flat Black C5's online. It looks freaking awesome. I'm more concerned with the life span of the paint. But we will see. I was thinking either that or the special Orange offered to C6's. I dont know why, but I love that color!
What makes a car that looks like it's in PRIMER AWESOME??? Just looks like it's in primer to me.
Maybe some flat camoflage would be WICKED AWESOME
There is a guy in my area with a totally camoflaged C3. He thinks it's cool and takes it to car shows and is oblivious to everyone laughing behind his back..
