Ok guys I am a new owner of a stock 2002 Z06. I have been looking at doing the air intake with a blackwing but I don't know if I install it if I will also have to do the exhuast. Since I will have more air coming in I assume that I would have to but don't know if the exhuast on the Z06 differs from regular C5's... I also have a new MGW shifter ready to go in this weekend.
The blackwing is a good start.. You do not have to change the exhaust.. Only the Z06 has a titanium exhaust system.. It is unique to the Z06..It is a lighter more durable system,, Remember an aftermarket cat back exhaust sysytem is just for sound NOT performance, You won't see a power increase and add extra weight to your car making it sound better (maybe) but run slower. If you want a real horsepower gain you will have to go with Long Tube headers and a tune.. Andy, formerly with 21st Century Muscle cars in Dallas pulled 29rwhp out of my Z with the addition of a Halltech Stinger intake and a dyno tune.. 381 rwhp on a dyno jet (corrected) . bone stock was 352 rwhp..A good tune will run between $199 and $499.. Fill out you profile so we can point you in the right direction. If you plan on putting headers on you might wait to do a tune after that is done. Some tuners will retune for free if you have their shop do future modifications
If I just do the blackwing will I notice a improvement in the horsepower of the car??? I know what the websites say ie... 16hp but does that translate into feeling anything in the gas pedal when you step on it. BTW I had an M5 BMW want to race and he kept up with me through 4th gear... I was a little shocked that I couldn't pull away from him.

Not sure that you could definately feel the difference.

I have the LG long tubes, x-pipe, and cats along with a Halltech Stinger intake. I also got the car tuned when I did all that and am very pleased with the results.
I have since replaced the stock TI mufflers with Borla Stingers. They sound amazing when you are on it, but I am seriously considering going back to my stock TI's just to keep the road noise down.
With Intake, LG Longtube Headers and Dynotune I got 390RWHP.
Then I cammed it and now with the Cam in new Dynotune I make 427RWHP.
Feels fast enough to me.
How fast were you going with the BMW? If you were under 80 or 90 then 3rd gear would have been pulling strong... 4th gear isn't really needed until after that...And when the RPM's are in a high enough range, 4th gear will pull pretty hard, but only if the revs are up there enough. And I personally have never gotten the chance to use 5th gear
