It's only worth what someone will pay for it. You can have mine for $35,000 a good deal in my book, but I'm not looking to sell. Is it worth that much? It is to me.
I really don't understand. This is the second thread like this in 2 weeks. Why,why, why, does anybody care what someone else is asking for a car? It is NOBODIES business what any person in the U.S. asks for anything they're selling.
I can and will continue to ask all kinds of stupid prices for the possessions I sell. This is the free market, what part of free market don't you understand? If I am giving it away or asking a ridiculous price it is MY BUSINESS. I don't want your opinion!
C'mon man, have some mercy, lol. A contractor needs a pickup, a cop needs a police car, a regular person usually needs a car - but nobody actually NEEDS a Corvette.
The Corvette is really just a toy for big boys, but we do love our toys now, don't we?
It's websites like KBB and NADA that makes people sit on their cars for months and months. Buyers are way too educated to use KBB to get an idea of how much they should pay for a car. Especially a specialty car like a Corvette. I think those websites are more accurate if your looking for a Camry or a Honda.

If you want to buy my Corvette and if I were selling it today, the price would be $28,000. Firm includes a transferrable GMPP which has one more extension available. If you can't afford it, there are no-name dealers and off brand dealers around that have picked an odd ball up in trade or off the auction that will be happy to serve you. Thanks for your call.
You can look all day long, and find all kinds of deals. My price is my price and particularly in my case that is what its value is, regardless of these wild deals someone might find.
It is unfortunate that most things we own have lost value. I have been through many economic cycles and hopefully this bad one will pass soon. If you think the prices of Corvettes are too high maybe you need to look for another car. This is the same thinking that made the UAW give wage concessions. So much for equal pay for equal work.
The Corvettes have always been special. The most sports car for the money. Do we need them? I think so. One of the first thing a former owner says is he will buy another one someday. I was once told we really don't own our Corvettes we are caretakers of the car for the next guy down the line.

I DO!
That is why book values mean nothing to me (either selling or buying). Book values just tell me what the car probably would sell for through the "established" channel - assuming something is probably really wrong with it to the point they could not sell it without trading it in. Book value also shows what the insurability would be, but that is another rant! can you imagine what the spread is on "exotics" between insurability and value going the standard route!
However the reason no vettes are selling is the prices are too high.
Price your cars accordingly and they will sell.
KBB listed mine for 32,000 last summer.
Now it is 26,000.
I had my for sale for 26,500 and got no bites.
I'm don't have to sell it, but not going to lose more money than the market already has called for. Ridiculous post for a corvette forum member. The market is bad therefore, people aren't buying anything. It's not the car. Unless they're looking for mileage, 4 cyl's are selling again.
I still have pride in my car. You can give yours away.
No the prices don't NEED to friken drop. I don't give a **** how bad the economy gets. Keep the values up! You're off your rocker...
I agree. With the prices going so low almost anyone can afford one and with that said, much of the youth if they want one instead of those damn import POS.
I remember when only mature people owned Vettes and they were an icon and something to behold. Now kids own them and sometimes wreck them which in the end could possibly raise our rates of insurance on our beloved Vettes. Go ahead and price out insurance on a Ram Air Trans Am versus our Vettes (same motor) and the Ram Air will be more I bet. I did price them both out because I love the T/A's but the insurance was $40 more a month because of the age group driving them.
Sorry for the long winded email folks. All in all the Vette doesn't need to go any lower, unless of course I can buy another one to go along side the one I have.
They have already dropped much quicker than normal like everything else. Even oil has been dropping. I don't see the requirement for the Vette market to bottom out.

Plus, you are always free to offer less than what the seller is asking. If the car doesn't sell after a period of time, either the seller will just keep it or will end up lowering the price.

That makes no logical sense. Just because one is in bad shape doesn't make all the others less valuable. And because some vehicles have more mileage or wear and tear, that doesn't affect those that are not in that condition.
If you are having an issue selling your vehicle it could be a number of reason, but certain not because the others around are holding the value up on the vehicle. Maybe its the color, or the model, or mileage or maybe you have a bunch of mods that no one wants to touch. Could be the geographical location.
Very well said. Everyone wants to get these cars dirt cheap.
