The dealership I work for recently took a 01 Z06 with 30k miles. black with mod red interior
for $17500.00 and a 02 Z06 with 74k miles needed a ebcm and tires and seat track electron blue for $13500.00 (they wholesale that one). I agree C5 prices are falling.
Prices here seem to be about where they should be. Perhaps you are getting asking prices confused with selling prices. Sure some guy will want to get 30K for his nice 2002 coupe, but since you can buy a 05 C6 for the same coin, it probably ain't gonna happen any time soon.
You can buy a nice early C5 here for between 15 - 17 K. That seems like a pretty good bang for the buck to me.

A. The economy is not that bad and it isn't bad all over.
B. I don't want to sell my vette.
Just exactly why do you want the prices to fall out from under your (or our) cars? Are you looking to buy another one really cheap? Or do you just enjoy losing your shirt on stuff like this.
Here's a thought. You list your car for oh, say, $8000 and sell it. Come on, do your part. You bring those prices down yourself.

As a buyer I agree, prices need to come down in order to move the car. So either price it right or keep it and enjoy it but why waste everyones time and forum bandwidth asking what the car was worth prior to GM screwing owners by offering a 2008 coupe for $40k.
GM reset the entire used value market. The way I see it, sellers have 3 options:
1. Sell it now for what's it worth. (probably less than what most think but look at cars that have sold, not asking price)
2. Keep it, enjoy it, have fun with it.
3. Sell it next year for a lower price yet.
Also, I think the C5s in the teens are good buys, but the first post may have meant '03/04's priced at C6 levels. i.e. C6 forum has an 07 coupe for $34K! ....and 05/06s $28K-35, coupes, not Z06.

I agree. The minute GM offered an 08 for 40k we all took a hit. Just sold my 01 with 45k and lots of extras for 19. People keep saying "why so cheap". I think the new owner and I both did well.

It's only worth what someone will pay for it. You can have mine for $35,000 a good deal in my book, but I'm not looking to sell. Is it worth that much? It is to me.
Its a never ending price war...potential corvette owners want to buy the car for rock bottom prices, but expect FULL market value when they go to sell it......maybe in a perfect world......But you get what you pay for. If you dont like the price someone is asking move on to another car. Simple as that.
A 02 Z06 with 40k miles is a really low mile car. thats roughly 6600 miles per year. So I dont see a problem with the owner wanting market value for it. I feel that a price somewhere between 22-28k is a fair price. If its modded then of course you get the 50% mod "rule".
And when its a corvette your getting the best bang for your buck.

No the prices don't NEED to friken drop. I don't give a **** how bad the economy gets. Keep the values up! You're off your rocker...
I could not have said this better except with more expletives.
What is wrong with you people? Why do you insist on devaluing this vehicle? This irritates me about the same as the people selling houses for well below market value or those taken into foreclosure which hurts the prices of all the other homes in the area. That makes no logical sense. Just because one is in bad shape doesn't make all the others less valuable. And because some vehicles have more mileage or wear and tear, that doesn't affect those that are not in that condition.
If you are having an issue selling your vehicle it could be a number of reason, but certain not because the others around are holding the value up on the vehicle. Maybe its the color, or the model, or mileage or maybe you have a bunch of mods that no one wants to touch. Could be the geographical location.
I watched posts by C4 owners do the same thing. It is just idiotic, you want a low low price when you buy them and then a high price when you sell or complain about how little they offered you on trade or sale and are all offended. Well yeah when this type of stuff occurs people start thinking oh the price is too high. These are not an every day car that every day people buy.
I have been looking around to buy a C5 and I think many asking prices are just laughably crazy. Maybe because C5 sellers usually keep these cars garaged, they think they can ask more money? I dunno what the reasoning is, but it ain't gonna make me a buyer until I see one at very fair price.
No problem for me though. I definitely don't NEED one of these things, lol.................
Some of these prices are too funny. That is why they don't sell....why bother spending time trying to sell it on the idea "maybe someone will buy it for this crazy price."...it seems pointless and buries the cars that people actually want to sell.$18.5 for a early model 130k mile C5...come on now.I try and get clean trade-in for my for sale things...that's it at best. There is no such thing as retail anymore. The new cars killed that for $40k.
Then you have the modding thing.....if you wanted ot mod the car then fine but it does not increase the value of the car just because you spent $10k on doing stuff.
Other than wheels/exhaust these things should be left alone for resale.I'd take the other mods off and sell them. Most potential buyers like me do not want someones idea of custom.
Um, a garage-kept car IS worth more. The paint and interior are in much better shape when kept in a garage instead of out in the weather. As is the entire chassis really.

It sure as hell does increase the value of the car. Just as upgrading your home increases its value. Even though its "someones idea of custom." For as long as I can remember modded cars have SOLD for more then a stock car in the same condition...
