When I start my car I turn the car to accessories and let the computers turn on and then start the car. I let someone else drive the car and he turned the key right to start position. The car started, but nothing electrical came on. No air, radio, gauges nothing worked. I turned the car off, took the key out and restarted it the way I do, everything worked. Is this related to the column lock recall they put in for my A4 transmission? Any ideas guys? HELP
Probably just a glitch. I start my car using both techniques and have never had a problem like the one you described. Were you able to duplicate the problem?
I had that happen once...turned it on in one move and almost s*** a brick when oil pressure read zero, then I realized that nothing turned on. Turned the car off and then back on and everything worked again. Haven't had the problem since!
I have never even thought about going to accessory before starting.....I always go straight to start and all the electronics always do what they should.
When I start mine, I usually hesitate a couple seconds at the "acc" position, but only to let the fuel pump get up to pressure. I've never had happen what the "jmesox" experienced.

The [start] position shuts off the power to the accessories anyway.
I've never had the problem the OP describes, but I have noticed a sometimes variable delay between when the engine cranks up and the radio, ac, gauges, etc. turn on. Usually it's immediate, sometimes it's 4-5 seconds tops. I never really let it bother me.
