Default Performance Hood Seals

I just received the performance hood seals and "comfort covers" (A/C vent covers) that I ordered from Mid America Motorworks. All I can say is:

WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP THESE PARTS ARE!!!

1) The foam (and adhesive tape for that matter) used for the hood seals is about the worst quality I have seen for any form of weather stripping material.

2) The hood seals were each folded four times and then packaged in a small plastic bag. I've been playing with these things for over half of the day, and there is no way to get the creases out where the foam was previously crushed at the folds.

3) As far as the vent covers go, let me just say that your average fast food chain's hot beverage lid is made of a higher quality plastic. Not surprisingly, the beverage lids fit better too!

I know that many of you are using hood seals on your cars. What brand or supplier do you recommend? I researched as much as I could before making this purchase. I saw that there are all kinds of materials used for both the strips and the adhesive. I also saw that some manufacturers claim a difference in height or design to create a better seal. My figuring was that I couldn't go wrong ordering from one of the biggest Corvette parts suppliers in the world.

Clearly I figured wrong....

I read about some people doing their own hood seals with stuff from Lowes or Home Depot.

I ordered mine from Ecklers. It was rolledin a bag, so there was no problem installing it. All I had to do was cut it to fit.

Might I suggest, order the seal for one of the sides of the fender from GM, then cut it to fit the front. This way you an exact match, it affixes to the side of the lip not the bottom as other third party does and it acts like a flap just like the sides to seal.

I bought the hood seal from PFYC, fits very well and keeps the water out when I wash the car.

I have the vent covers, they fit perfectally on my first 99, but not to well on my current C5.
