A spirit lifter

Doing OT again cause the wife still hasn't found a job, couldn't get the weekend off to go home and check out the Paducah show, my dog died last year.....you get the idea.
Pulled into the place I get coffee and gas at. Left her by the pump, since you have to prepay if you want to use cash. As I was walking away, I hear "Sweet 5 ya got there." I turned and a black gentleman in a C6 had pulled in on the other side of the pump. I walked over to him, shook his hand, said thanks, and eased his mind a little. I was in uniform, badge and all, and I think he might have thought I was coming back to give hime a hard time. I did have a pissed off look on the face I guess. :o
We talked for a few minutes. He had sold his '98 to get the '07, and regretted it. He basically said what everyone else that regrets it does. He missed the thrill he got when he looked at it. Loved the C6, but it just didn't excite him like he thought it would.
When I left him, and the station, I was feeling much better about life in general. Amazing how a simple compliment, and a few minutes with a fellow enthusiast, works huh?

I personally think that compliments can be even more gratifying than "stepping on it." You can do that anytime, but compliments are rare.

Great story.
Hitting the throttle can be so much fun, but I really enjoy the compliments.
