Hmmmm.

What's wrong with a Vert?

That will be my next Vette, and I have a Coupe.

Oh, and I am keeping the Coupe!

Open air is fun.

i like the look of the FRC more, but I wanted the removable top...and after 2 years, its still cool. If the 50 less HP is to much to lose...just mod a little bit, and for the street, you wont tell a difference in the Z to a coupe

You seem to really favor the coupe - and there is nothing wrong with that. It offers open air driving, absolutely sexy lines and plenty of power. Plus it costs less.

I never regretted getting a coupe.

I would go with which one you like the looks and functionality (i.e. do ypu want glass removable roof, extra storage, trunk, etc). You can always upgrade the performance but not the basic shape.

Coupe.

Z06 has a bit more you know what. But how often do you really get into it that hard?

My 2000 coupe with a A4 is plenty and gets 20 mpg in town and 32 on the road.

I doubt if a z06 will do that due to the way one usually drive a stick.

PS I love to take off the top in the summer.

Also a bigger trunk space and acessable from the car is a plus.

IMO

The best part about the Zo6 is the transmission gearing....
I've driven base C5's that have more than 400hp and I always think afterwards that the M12 gearbox would be a nice improvement...

If I lost my Zo6.... I'd have to get another one... I just can't settle for a base C5... I like the way the gauge cluster is italized on the Z... the extra power, and the other stuff that makes it "special."

I wouldn't have a vette that you couldn't take the top off. What's a sports car if you can't feel the wind in your hair?

Of course if you want the roof off when the dog is in the car... well good luck... The Z06 is an Awesome Vette!!! I LOVE mine!!! I really wanted a C5 last year. I couldn't decide what I really wanted.

I had a 78 Vette with t-tops so having the targa sounded good. But I really liked the Zs look!! Then I FOUND IT!!! Speedway White Z06!!! It spoke to me!!! I had to have it...

Point being find the Vette that calls to you!!!! You won't regret it!!!

Love my coupe. Love taking the top off. My dog loves riding in the coupe. More than enough power to get in trouble.

I'd buy a Z06.. I may be a little biased though. I just prefer the looks of a Z06 to a coupe. Besides, I don't really care for the open air possibility.. If I wanted to take the top off, I'd buy a convertible. It sounds, however, that in your situation a coupe would probably be more suitable, and you can always improve its performance..

coupe all the way - i have both tops and use them both equally - in the spring and fall i use the glass and in the summer the solid one. I take my tops off regularly and love the openness. The coupe has a higher top end due to its aerodynamics - plus more features 12 disc changer sports seats etc etc. i do NOT regret getting the coupe at all i like the Z06 but the coupe is better for me
