Ok so some jerk decides to pass the car in front of him (he is in front of me...in a ricer to boot) on the shoulder and throws up a crap load of rocks. Yes one chipped my windshield. No I did not chase him and did not get the plate #. Grundy Ins. told me I have no deductable, get it repaired or replaced if needed and they will pay 100%. So now the question....has anyone had Safelight repair any chips and how did it come out? Thanks....and please no ..."you should have chased etc ok...thanks"
I have had a chip filled in and the results are great. I went to my local glass repair shop and took a half hour to first look at a car coming in to get glass fixed and waiting the 30 minutes for the job to be done.
I looked it over good when finished and decided I wanted the repair versus some goon taking out my OEM windshield. Fee was $88. and my insurance was happy to pay it.

Thanks, I was going to go to the dealer or a detail shop by me but I think I will have "Safelight" look at it....the other two would prob farm it out to them anyway.

Good move, dealers rarely if ever do their own glass work.
Good move to have a shop that specializes in that type of work look at it first.
I had damage to my truck windshield and had the repair done. You could still see the spot but it was not in the line of sight. The repair shop should tell you if the repair will be very noticeable or not. If it's in your line of sight you may want to consider having the windshield replaced.

The clear resin will look a bit duller than the glass and you would not want to look through it. Mine was down low so no big deal.
Safelight in Hackettstown did my Cavalier a few years ago. They removed the damaged windshield and replaced a new windshield in less than 15 minutes. It was 100% fine. No issues whatsoever. I'm not sure about chip repair though... btw, were you at Bensi's last night?? There was a comm. conv. like yours there. Sorry to hear about the misfortune.

A good quality auto window shop should be able to repair the chip to where it is virtually invisible. Plus you don't have to worry about the windshield being sealed correctly.
