Looks like Satin black....That is what I used also. Satin, or flat, retains the stock appearance. Some have suggested black bbq grill paint which is not glossy either.

I just bought my 2002 last week. The hood liner was black, grey and white. I looked through the forum and it seemed that there were some good ideas but they all seemed to give so-so results or took several days to complete. I did mine in two hours and it was perfect, like new with absolutely no flaws. Did not have to scrub, clean or remove anything. It even makes the retainers look new. The funny thing is I have not seen this idea on any forums anywhere. Just buy two or three bottles of Fiebing's black leather sole and heel edge dressing for shoes and boots. This is a dye (looks like black water) l that I use on my boots for the sole and edgings. You can get it on ebay for about 6-7 dollars a bottle. It take 2-3 bottles. The applicator is small but be patient. I did about a 1 minute vacuum on the liner and the application can be done in an hour or two. Just lay a towel over the engine compartment for any splatters and get ready to be amazed. The liner soaks this up like a sponge and the results are perfect. This stuff dries very quickly, maybe 2 or three hour at the max.
