Default Playing with Wagon Wheels

My chrome wagon wheels looked good from far, but far from good. I was going to bust open the piggy bank and buy a new set of custom rims THEN I saw a pristien set of painted wagon wheels for sale. I haggled and got the set for $100. Talked to my friendly powder coater and he agreed (I haggled again...) to do them in black for me for $200. For $300 plus a little red accent paint and mounting and balancing... What - $400 total?

I'll attempt to post photos when done.

I'll post some photos of mine later. I had them powdered in Gold. My 99 is dark blue metalic. I did it because I could not find gold wheels.

In the end they are still wagon wheels, Its your car, If it were me for another 100 bucks you could have Z chrome or C6 wheels, That is what I would of done, Never been a fan of wagon wheels, But it isn't my car and I don't have to drive it.
As long as you like it. cool
Just my opinion.

I didn't think I would like the wagon wheels either, but they are kind of growing on me. And mine are just the plain ones. I am almost thinking of not changing them, just having them chromed or buying some chrome ones. EVERYONE has the 2k+ wheels.

I've seen them chromed with the little black inserts and I think it really made them look good,,Even chrome makes them look pretty good IMO. And I have a 2000 with the thin spokes(I DO prefer them on MY car, even turned down a deal on repro Z06 wheels!)

I got rid of my wagons, i think they are fine but i wanted something that popped a little more.
I have a great set for sale if someone wants to buy them and chrome them or paint them.

i had a set of wagons stripped and highly polished, look great but no clear coat so i had to polish them every other week with nevr-dull to keep them looking sharp, much better than the chrome look, i think i paid about 150.00 per wheel

I have never been a fan of the wagons either until I found my car with the chrome wagons. Well I had the same issue as a lot of others, yep you guessed it, I hit a curb while out playing and broke one between the spokes. OUCH! Well in any case I have been seeing alot of other wagons out there that were painted or powder coated and with certain cars they look great so I went it and it looks good in my opinion.

So all in all in the end do what you like and don't worry what others think.

Mine are polished and clear coated. Have had many compliments. Car looks like a garden variety Vette. Some mods and new gears have been a surprise!

Thanks! I like my wagons. Just wanted them redone. To expensive to rechrome or polish. Powder coating them black to match my car is in the general theme I am trying to shoot for. If I bought aftermarket rims they were going to be black anyway.

Like I said, wasn't looking for opinions, just stating what I was going to do and for a really good price to boot. Better still, I have three guys wanting to buy my chrome set. Going to cost me even less when I sell those.

I had mine chromed when I first bought the car. I still have them, and still like them.

Add me to the club of Wagon Wheel supporters.

I like the looks of the stock ones when they are in perfect condition.

They are light, cheap to replace if needed and you NEVER see a cracked or broken wagon wheel.

I also like the wagon wheels. I'm thinking about putting mine back on. My chrome z06 wheels are HEAVY! and all the chrome has flaked off on the inside of the wheel. they are only about 3 years old also.

I think black wagons would look great! Can't wait to see them. Are you thinking of doing the polished lip thing at all?

No to the polished lip. I saw a post here sometime back that had a black WW with a red pinstrip on the inside of the lip, the carbon fiber ring also done in red and the word Corvette, also in red (decal,) on one off the spokes. Rocked my world.

I have the picture in Photoshop, but for some reason can't post it here. When I try only the URL shows up and if you open that you not only see the WW picture but you now have access to every picture in my PhotoShop. Still trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.
