I was aroun 8-9 years old.. The guy down the strret had a 68 427. He did a burn out one day and I was in awe from that day on, I swore I would have one of those cars. Unfortunately the opportunity never arouse as prices on the old big blocks kept going up an up and out of sight. I needed a newer dependable daily driver.. I finally had to settle for a 99 coupe 5 years ago.. Now I have an 02 Z06 and don't feel to bad knowing that it will smoke an old big block in every performance category... Don't get me wrong. I'd love an old big block.. I just can't justify the cost of one (a nice one) at this point in my life.. I'm working on it..

 

I was that kid also. Bought my first one when I was 22.
A 1970 LT-1, 350/370hp. Gave $5000 for it. (1981)

Now at 49 I'm on my 4th one.
Still a kid, not hit mid life crisis yet. Never grew up and just got married for the first time this year.
