Default Column lock - Recall or a courtesy fix????

I just bought this second vette (2002) that does not have the Column lock disengaged. I asked the dealer about fixing it and they said that it was not a recall and i would have to wait until it failed or pay about $700 to get it fixed now. I thought that it was a recall fix.

Originally, the dealer would install the recall kits regardless of whether you have had a problem or not.
However, I think there was a time limit on getting the recall fix installed, so you may need to find another dealer if you want it fixed without waiting for it to fail.

The recall expired FEB 29/08. GM will not cover the cost anymore. By a column lock bypass from thunder racing before it fails.

Just pick up a Column Lock Bypass kit. $50 and unlike the dealer fix it works.

Just buy a $50-60 column lock bypass and install it yourself. Best money you will spend on the car and the locking problem will be solved.
