Default tire pressure

Kept on getting a low pressure on my front left. goes away after a few minutes of driving. (goes up from 24-29) Are my sensors bad or a slow leak.

I've had similar issues if its a slow leak

Two things I'd check:

Do you have peripheral balance weights? I had the grip type rather than stick ons and they were pinching the bead and allowing a small leak. Dont forget you might have weights on the inside of the tire as well as the outside.

The valves themselves can leak.

For both, try a little washing up liquid around the area and see if you get bubbles.

The O rings can go also bad if they are old although this is less likely. Theres a nut on the outside that you can tweak a little just to tighten it up.

Dont forget the DIC warns when it hits 24 psi

If you had a leak, driving wouldn't put air back in. Put in 30 cold as the door says. If you have 24 in cold you should get a low pressure warning. After you drive, the tire heats up and goes over the lower limit for the warning. Just put 30 in when it's cold.

Like 65GGVert says, set 'em 30 cold. Tires are rated to about 50-51PSI. Sensor goes off at 25. When I track my car I'll start out at 35-38 cold min.

If you are reading less than 25 psi when cold, the low pressure warning will come on. Looks like it goes off when the tires warm up and the air pressure increases. Fill your tires to 30 psi cold and that should stop the warning message unless the sensors are going bad.

you'll know if your sensor is bad just by bending over and checking the pressure manually. Probably a good idea with number of post surfacing discussing bad tire sensors. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips! BTW, you missed a great Super Run at downtown Henderson this year. Did you attend the corvette show there (UK)? I'll tell our fellow Sin City Vette guys got another good tip from you!

The upper limit before the DIC says your tire pressures are too high is 40 psi. I set mine at 36 cold and find they almost never trip the upper limit warning. The extra air will help mileage (both fuel and tire) and make it ride just a bit firmer. Try it higher and see how it works for you. I am happy with the results I got from doing it, and for those of us that like to play on freeway on/off ramps, you'll find it raises the cornering limits just a bit. TMMV.

As we progress into autumn, cold tire pressure drops because the ambient temperature is dropping.
What was 28 psi in the heat of summer, is likely 26 psi now triggering the low pressure alert.

An increase of 2-4 psi is normal when going from cold tires to road warmed tires.
Since the road contains less heat in the autumn, expect the tire pressure increase to be lower.
28 will go to 32 in the summer while 26 will rise to 28 in the autumn.

To allow for this I run 28 cold in the summer and 30 cold in spring and autumn.

I suspect you have no issues. It is just that ambient temperature has dropped.

Double check the torque specs on the stems/sensors. My new wheels were nowhere near the 7-8 ft lbs the manual says. I only went to 5-6 lbs or so and the leak stopped.

I only did this after the soapy water test. Although after I found that stem was out of specs I checked them all. All of them needed to be tighten. But only one was actually leaking.
