Hi Guys, I am new to the forum and need some advice on the above company. I stay in South Africa and have been trying to contact them with regards to buying parts for my C5 but am not getting any response at all. Are they a trustworthy company to deal with and secondly are they still in operation.
Thanks for your help

without going into detail, I'll walk before I order anything from them again.

they did eventually make things right, but that doesn't expunge their record.

They have access to the GM database to locate parts all over the country...but, then so does any other GM parts person. They seem to be more successful in finding parts that no one else can.
Their prices are generally pretty very good, but their shipping costs are extremely high compared to others. The reason the costs are so high is that they order from another GM dealer, have the parts shipped to them, then ship them to you. That also may account for long delays in receiving parts.
They communicate only through e-mails, no phone calls. They are a division of FLOW CHEVROLET in the Winston-Salem area.
I've ordered a few items from them when my local dealer has said the parts are no longer available. GMPARTSDIRECT found the parts, but I paid a premium...I understood that ordering and I accepted it.
You might try contacting some of the other site supporting vendors and see if they can find your parts and ship overseas. Try GMPARTSHOUSE or FITCHNERS...both have excellent reputations.

I agree - try Gene at gmpartshouse.com and see if he can ship things to you. Excellent service and great prices.

I'm in a similar situation to you and have to have my parts shipped to UK. On every shipment I pay shipping, tax and a handling charge on arrival in country. That all adds to the overall cost so you need to check the bottom line carefully.

GMpartsdirect is an internet company. Good discounts but once the order is placed its almost impossible to change it as you have to do everything by e mail.

Gene at gmpartshouse.com is well respected here but he uses one particular shipper. If its a good price to S Africa you'll be good to go and he gives great discounts to Forum members. If the rates are bad you'll pay more in shipping that you will for the original part.

I use Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet. He uses USPS, which although slower, give the most economical rates to an overseas address. He also gives a great discount and the after sales service is second to none.

Whichever works for you.

That's good they e-mail you cuz you cannot contact them by phone. I ordered from them once, it was a pain in the azz when they shipped to FL instead of OH.

I'd order from GM Partshouse (Gene Culley) before i ordered from gmpartsdirect.

Thank you for the referrals. Shipping does get more expensive overseas, but I would be happy to see what I can do for you.

Plus he's a supporting vendor!

I've ordered from GM Parts Direct before and while their prices might be a little better than most, they make it up on the shipping and "handling".

That's the one that you have to look out for!
