Hold on... It has been a long time coming but Chris said that some customers will receive them THIS WEEK!! :yesnod: :yesnod: ... if not in their hands as we speak.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=206992

If you're one of the lucky few... please share your opinions of the shifter with us. Tell us how the construction quality is and how it performs. I am really dying to know if this will be a rattle free shifter.

don,
keep you're shorts on................
This calling me Mr. Negativity, after the delay's and previous supposed ship dates is enough to cause ANYONE, not just me, to question the veracity of the data.
I HOPE you are correct, as I am in limbo still.............IF it's as good as the Ripper, but easier to shift, then I will be in line with my dinero also.........
I am sick of the stock rod.............
Besides, when folks are mad at me, I tend to be very sensitive, and I :cry a lot.............sniff, sniff............

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry.

I too was a "Doubting Thomas" once... but after all that has been said and done, i believe zrchris. He wouldn't have said THIS week unless he was absolutely sure... especially after a whole year of saying, "next month, next month." Another post like that would just be embarrasing.

So, If he says they will be here THIS week, then by golly, I believe him!

I posted on the technical forum so that we will get a response from one of the owners real soon.

The Hurst shifter will never be out. This product has been near to release for almost a year. There have been delays, delays and delays. A word to the wise.

There is something seriously flawed in this product to take this long to come to market. Ignore the record in other cars and avoid this when they finally get it out. It is delayed because it doesn't work. Those who buy will have serious regrets. jerboa, stock shifting

What are you Kreskin or something? How would you know how well it will or will not work when you have never laid eyes on it?

You guys need to relax. Whatcha gonna complain about when it's out?? Am I gonna hear praise or acknowledgement from you- probably not- you just wanna focus on the downside and make rumors. This one has advantages over the others, but it isn't worth all the excitement. As I've said before, the delays have had little to do with the shifter design, more to do with coordination with the rest of the product line and external vendors.

Early units are in transit as we speak. The truck didn't leave until 1/4/02. The (early) shifters arrived at Mr. Gasket's distribution center TODAY. They're heading out to me today, and I expect to have them to the end users by the end of next week. Actual retail release won't occur until around the end of January or early February, when the rest return safely from the coater.

Chris

I gave up on Hurst last summer. I had been in contact with them direct and they had nothing in the works at that time even though the rumors had and still are rampant. Perhaps they really will market a shifter sometime before the world ends, but I finally gave up and went with the Kirban with no regrets.
Fact. Hurst is not the company it was back in the 60s when it was independantly owned and most everyone had one of their products.

Interesting? Mid December, I posted that I spoke to Hurst, and they told me late January, and you disclaimed that. You said the techs at Hurst have zero knowledge of the shifter. Either, you already new it was going to be late Jan, and you didn't want to loose any members interest or you were wrong about the techs knowledge. :bs

You seem to think this is all planned out. Hurst is just trying to get it to market as soon as they can, while balancing everything else. As I said before, the tech, which I talked to after the incorrect application response, decided on his own to estimate January- which was done so without any direct information from the product manager or production staff. Back at that time, things looked to be more on track- damage in shipping from the coater wasn't expected. The tech, which has nothing to do with production, simply made a guess by padding the December estimate given to him. He's in fact halfway across the country from the production facility and his job does not involve contact with them.

Why you want to question my involvement I don't know- the shifters I've installed speak for themselves. I pass along the information I have to those that make an inquiry, but clearly some on this forum would be best left in the dark. There's no conspiracy here; if you need a shifter immediately, buy someone else's. At this point I would say retail delivery will happen in early February. But a few early units will definitely be in CF member hands by the end of this week.

As far as Muffler's comment- Fact: The Hurst C5 shifter was introduced at SEMA 2000, in November of 2000, and evaluated in a Corvette Fever article in December of 2000. Rumors since then have simply had to do with product release dates. Hurst is much the same company today as it was long ago, but now produces a more extensive product line than ever before, and with more competitors than before. The C5 shifter is a single small application out of many; basing one's view of a company on the delayed release of a single application is naive, but understood if that's all that matters to you.

Sounds like that man has a future in project management :)

ZR - note to self, always pad engineering completion estimates. People are always willing to be pleasantly surprised with early delivery.

Peace

Silly me- anyone might find it reasonable to add 2 weeks to 1 month to a projected date, which I have, but in this case to properly pad from the initial date to actual I would have had to add about 11 months. Pleasing customers with an "early" delivery on this project simply didn't happen due to various unexpected delays, beyond the estimates of anyone- with or without padding. It's a shame, but that's how it went.
