Default Maybe a C5?

I currently have a 1996 Corvette Torch Red coupe LT1 with just
17k original miles. It looks like a brand new 96'. Ive owned it for
4 years and it runs great no problems. I was debating maybe
selling it and buying a 2003 or 2004 C5. What would you do?

Sell it after you find a latter model that is as good or better than yours. What are you asking for it?

Can't you keep both? You can have the best of both worlds! The C5 in a different type of beast and the C4...pure spaceship..I like both.

I dont have the extra garage space. The 96 is perfect. Im just afraid to buy a C5 and I might have issues. Column lock, fuel sending, or
other problems.

1. I've an '04 owned since new, very few issues.

2. A friend of mine sold his '96 2 years ago, 1 owner, showroom with 14k on the clock and got $14K and felt lucky. $22K... mmmmmm, good luck.

You'd better keep it if it's worth 22K!

If you haven't already, go drive a C5 and see the difference for yourself. Like stated earlier, they are both different animals. I had a 95 and sold it after I got the 98. I like the 98 better even when a few issues come up. Who's to say you won't have any issues come up on the 96. They are machines and machines tend to break sometimes. Good luck.

Prices are cheap right now on the C5's so I would say get it. 22K for your C4 may be tough. If it is that nice and you don't mind storing one, I would do that if you can afford both. In my opinion the C5 is a far superior car but then again who am I to say and everyone likes something different. Its a tough call. Good luck

I don't follow the C4 prices, but I would think that would be awfully hard to get?
Step up to a 04 C5 and you won't be disappointed.

Even if you keep the C4, you will eventually have issues. The Optispark will go bad and that is at least a $1000 repair.

We had a `96 convertible that I dearly loved, but my wife's dream Corvette was a Bowling Green C5 with Lt. Oak. When we finally found one I was hesitant to trade, but it only took about 5 miles of driving to fall in love with the C5. Drive a C5 with the transmission & options you would like and then decide.

Good luck whichever way you choose.

I just upgraded from my 89 C4 to a 99 C5.

All I can say is that they are completely different cars! The 89 was fun. It was maybe a bit more brutal than the 99 is, but the quality of the 99 is just so much better than the C4 I had.

Now, my C4 had alot of miles on it (136K), so some of the issues I had might have been related to that. But, everything from getting into the car to it's ride to overall quality seems better with the C5.

Makes me wonder how much of an improvement the C6's are!

Really $22k? I paid less than that for my perfect 04 coupe with only 50k miles

I wonder what you would see on a deal with a new C6?

Yeah I'd say go drive a couple first. You will be astounded by the difference.

The C5 is vastly improved in many areas, including ergonomics, reduction of number of parts in the car, performance, handling, etc. But there is nothing wrong with just keeping the '96. IMO, you will be very hard pressed to get $22K for it - the market just isn't there for that kind of premium. But if you can (or even get close to that number), sell and get the C5.
