Has anyone seen or installed an in dash GPS? Including the ones that "fold up". As I understand it, our radios (I have a ZO6, and assume it is the same) are "din and a half". There are several double din that have the screen exposed, but I assume we have to use the other type. Does it interfere with the AC vent when it is out? Can you show me what you have done?
I use a Carmin, which I love, and which is installed in the lower left corner of the windshield (by the inspection stickers). But it still looks like an add on. But it it is very good.
So I guess I am asking three things. What are the options? Are some like the Garmin (not DVD GPS maps), and can you show what you have done?
I have the Pioneer AVIC X1R. The US versions were the N1 the N2 and the N3 although they may be discontinued now. You should still be able to pick one up on E Bay for a reasonable price.
Its a 1.5 DIN unit so it fits in the stock bezel. Its a flip out and has all the stuff you'd need (radio/DVD player/GPS Nav and it can be voice controlled
Over all performance is good and the nav is reasonably accurate. you need 2 adaptors to connect to the stock BOSE speakers and anenna.
The screen does cover the AC vents when its out but its no big deal. I survived Vegas temperatures without problems. In many cases you can operate it stowed, although obviously not the nav side.
Take a look at the How To I posted here. Its post # 18 and it shows how to fit the AVIC unit
