First time vette owner here. I picked up a 2002 zo6 about 2 months ago. Bought the car with 15,500 miles and it has 18,000 on the clock already
I had a question about the active handling system. When I hit my active handling button located below the shifter it turns off the active handling and my traction control. Is there any way i can turn off just the traction control and leave the active handling system on?
The traction control has to be off otherwise when i get a little wheel spin it cuts power.
The default setting is for AH/TC to be on. Pressing the button for 5 seconds or so puts you into competition mode. Pressing again for 5 seconds turns it all off.
Much better to be in competitive mode with AH on.
Also, if you hit the reset button on the dash, you will clear the message on the dic, but remain in whatever mode you are in.
Competition Mode is what you'e looking for. Here's a description for you:
Competitive Driving Mode
The Corvette Active Handling system will be the first of its type to offer dual mode operation. In addition to an "OFF" mode, in which Active Handling is disabled, the system also allows the driver to select a "COMPETITIVE DRIVING" mode for autocross competitions. In this mode, the Active Handling system remains fully-functional -- measuring steering, yaw rate and lateral acceleration inputs as well as applying individual wheel brakes as required -- but the traction control system is disabled, allowing for some wheelspin and oversteer that skilled drivers often find beneficial in competitive driving.

Thank you...Did not know this, must have missed it in the manual!!
Competition Mode....yes. Active handling mode off....no no.
The 2 times I have almost dumped my Vette into the road side ditches, I had the AH off. I learned later, through this forum, that you can continue to enable the AH, but turn off the TC for “spirited driving”, by using the Competition Mode.
Hope this helps.

Like the manual says, "that skilled drivers often find beneficial in competitive driving"
From the link:
-----
Summary of Active Handling System Modes
ON - Active Handling is automatically enabled when the car is started. This is also true of the ABS brake and traction control systems.
OFF - Like traction control, the Active Handling system may be manually turned off if the driver so desires. This is not true of the ABS brake system which is always enabled.
COMPETITIVE DRIVING - In this mode, Active Handling and ABS are both enabled, but traction control is shut off.

As mentioned in the "Off" part listed above... How do you shut off just the Traction Control but leave the Active Handling on?
