Default headlight problems! Im stumped!

the driver headlight motor wont pop up, i check the motor to see if it was damaged in the minor front end accident i had but it works fine. I even bought a new headlight motor and it still isnt working. cant figure it out.

the accident was slightly to the driverside from the center of the front.

any thoughts!?

You have a headlight control module under the passenger side headlight assembly. Check that to make sure ALL the connections are good.

You did check to make sure they didn't unplug the motor from the harness when they were repairing your front end, right? Easily overlooked.
Start with the fuses, then take the motor out, hook it back up to the harness and see that it turns freely. Also, check to make sure that the headlight arm itself isn't in the wrong position(placed UNDER that stop, instead of over it).
Let us know what you find.

These problems are hard to fix from a distance but here's a few thoughts that may help.

Can you wind the light up manually? If so that probably suggests the nylon gear is OK and ties it down to the power side (and you said you changed the motor). Also are the lights on but the doors stay down. If so, its probably the door actuator side not a broader power problem.

The drivers headlamp is controlled from the underhood fuse box:

LH Headlamp control: Fuse #4 - orange wire

Its a 10A fuse

The drivers side grounds at G101

The headlamp door actuator control module controls both headlight doors within the same module but its different circuits for each light. When a positive voltage is applied from the fuse box a switch closes, makes a circuit and the motor operates. The wires to the drvers headlamp motor are light green and dark green.

There are 2 connectors:

The drivers is the left headlamp.

Headlamp Door Control Module - C1 (5 pins lettered E to A left to right as you look at it).

A. White - Headlamps on input
B Orange - Fuse output - BATT
C Dark Grn - Headlamps off input
D Black - Ground
E Orange - Fuse output BATT

Headlamp Door Control Module - C2 (4 pins lettered D to A left to right as you look at it).

A. Lt Green - Headlamp motor door feed - Left - Up
B Dark Grn - Headlamp motor door feed - Left - Down
C Dark Blue - Headlamp motor door feed - Right - Down
D Lt Blue - Headlamp motor door feed - Right - Up

The first thing I'd check is if I have power at the door control module connector and then work backwards through the circuit.

I can send you the wiring diagram if it'll help. PM me with your e mail address if you want it.

Best of luck. BTW, Bill Curlee is the electrical guru and is alway happy to help out.
