I am looking for new wheels for my 97 corvette and I have decided I want chrome 1997-04 Z06 style chrome reproduction wheels. My question is should I stay away from the reproduction wheels or are they a good quality?? Any advice would be appreciated.
Many people run the repro's without issue however there are some cases where people have problems getting them to balance. The main concern with the repro's is their weight. They are considerably heavier than the factory wheels and unsprung weight is kind of a big deal.
Buying Aftermarket wheels is a Roll of the DICE. Some are perfect, and some are ABSOLUTE CRAP. My experience was ;3 good wheels and one F#%KED up wheel. They always try to hide the imperfecion and tell you its OK.... BUT ITS NOT! I Urge you to rethink your options.

I am running a set of ACE Slick Hyperblack wheels (currently offered for $1200 @ Corvette Garage thread) and they run fine. However, I have always wondered about the weight. After I run through the current rubber, I plan to get a set of CCWs. Anyone know whether the CCWs are heavier or lighter than the OEM wheels?

I ran a set of the reproduction Z06 wheels on mine for over 3.5 years and never had a problem. They were made by Factory Reproductions and I got them from Xtreme Motorsports.
