Why would you want to go with a smaller battery? With the exception of the Odyssey batteries, smaller batteries are usually less Amps. Which means you could have electrical problems. If you tried to run any kind of decent audio with amps you're not going to have the power to do it. Leave the small batteries to the import crowd.
I would have said be careful because this car is heavy on batteries. There seems to be a small drain even when everythings off. That said, if Last C5 has been running the Odyssey for 2 years it just shows that anything's possible. Looks like a neat clamp down kit he made up. I assume the stock hold down wouldn't work as it clamps down the ridge on the base of the battery.
I'd say if it meets to spec, give it a go. Let us know how it performs.

I can't take credit for the hold down, it's an accessory piece sold by Odyssey. I just added the captured nuts onto the stock tray to make removal and replacement easier. I did stick the Z06 badge on all by myself though.
