What are your thoughts on buying a corvette? Buying local or out of state? Looking at a 2000 black convertible with 62k miles, asking price is $22500 out of state. What is the best way to ensure that the car is sound without problems other than asking the dealer? carfax? If anyone has any advice i'd appreciate it

If it's in good shape, it sounds like a good deal to me!
I just got a Nassau Blue vert for around that same price... Mine has fewer miles, but it's a '99.
Look it over very good before buying it... Do your homework. I have some checklists that might be helpful in checking the car out. PM me your email address if you'd like me to send them to you...
A word of warning! Corvettes are like puppies, when you go to look at one, be prepared to fall in love and want bring it home immediatly!
I know, that's what i'm afraid of. I've kind of been holding off on actually going to see the vettes i've looked at so far so i can do my homework first I would really appreciate the checklists if you don't mind sending them. Have you had any problems with your vette?
One of the best ways of buying out of state is to look here on the Forum in the For Sale section!
You will get a clean Vette for a good price and more than likely it'll already have some bolt ons to go with it.
Plus you could a forum member go over and look at it for you and make a video as well as test drive it, if you decide to buy out of state. this has worked well for some.
Other than that I would much rather buy local in order to drive it and see it up close for yourself and make a clear and informed decision.
FDor the price you are looking at I'd take a quick look in the section here on the Forum

You could get a forum member in that area to look at it or hire an inspection service to do it for you. Really nothing wrong with buying out of state, but you do assume some risks unless you see it in person.
For sure. I was just talking with my uncle who mentioned the same thing. I was also thinking of flying there to check it out myself. Thanx for the info
I would really appreciate the checklists if you don't mind sending them. Have you had any problems with your vette?
Email coming your way with a bunch of docs that someone sent me when I was looking for a C5! It was very helpful!
No problems at all with my Vette! I just love it so far! I bought it from a dealer that was only 1 hour away though. And, I went to check it out a few days before actually buying it...
I would check around, 22,500 is pretty high for a 2000 with 62k. Not a great market for Vettes right now. I looked for a while found a 99 coupe 76k in great shape for 13,000. I bought it out of state, drove about eight hours to get it but had great drive home. Good luck !!!
Fill out your profile!!! Im quite sure that there will be a FORUM member available who will go with you to look at the car and piont out flaws that you will not see. If you lived in the North East there are a number of us who are willing to provide assistance like that.
That sounds hight to me. There are cars in that same year for aboyt 2K less.
