Not cheap at all, actually a very comfortable car to drive on long trips and great on gas. I owned an Acura TL and my Corvette gets 3-4 mpg more on the highway and is much comfortable to drive for long periods of time.
I wouldn't exactly say cheap, but I would in all honesty, say the car somewhat underwhelms me. There are too many "bells and whistles" that are prone to failure, such as the TPMS, and door lock systems that have given me problems, as well as the "rocking seat"....Problems I shouldn't have experienced in a 16,000 mile, never driven in winter, car.

A rocking chair in your car is proof it is not cheap! How much more luxury and comfort can you get? Quit whinning man,
but I am not quite sure what it is.... but it just feels cheap!! aka not very solid. maybe because the whole damn car is made out of plastic...
maybe because it doesnt have any sound deading material..
Just wondering if any of you guys feel like the corvette is "cheap feeling"
does it bother some of you?
I don't think ppl are seeing your true point here... I know what you are talking about, for example you hit a bump and you can hear all the plastic rattling in the car.... When I bought my first vette two years ago (99FRC) it was a low mileage car and felt VERY tight and not cheap at all, it was a truly BEAUTIFULL car! Now I have an 01 Z and when I got it in honestly felt loose (cheap) what I recommend is take a ride down to the dealer and buy all new interior clips (door panels ex specially) These things call all become loose even if they have only been off one or two times... or if you are a bass head and rattle the hell out of the car with some subs. And if you really want it to feel tight do what Chip said... go buy some dynamat (although if you go too crazy with it, it will add a LOT of weight) but that will also make your car feel very solid! Hope this helps!
But I can't afford a 1967 Coupe with a fully modernized suspension and an LS7 so I will just keep compensating for the cheap feeling with more mods.
But, i don't drive it every day either.
I have a split personality and want different things from my cars at different times. Ideally I would keep my car for weekends, track days and the occaisional drive across Houston and have an M3 for everything else (like a backseat). But, I am not in the position to do that. However, I wanted one of these since I was a kid and I hope to have one until my kids have kids. Not because it is made from the finest (or even moderate) materials, but because I like Corvettes.
Actually, the ideal situation for me would be the previously mentioned customized 67 Coupe and an M5.
I covered every square inch of it in either frost king or dynamat.
It makes a huge difference.
Peace
Chip

Add to this a few thousand dollars on stereo equipment and VE or Caravaggio leather upgrades and you will feel better about the inside view...
True, you could call the Vette's interior cheap inside and lacking any insulation. But, if you compare the cost of this car new to other comparable sports cars and you'll see what a performance bargain it is.
Fortunately, the interior of these cars is not too difficult to tear apart. Sound insulating, while can take a few days or more depending how meticulous you want to be, is a worthwhile project. I went with Damplifier Pro and Overkill...
......you may want to trade it in on a metal car like a Mustang
I wouldn't even point my enemies in the direction of a Mustang, unless the price is right of course.
You gotta love the Vette. Take a ride in another car like a Mustang and you will appreciate you Vette even more so then you do now and the cheapness will go away. Hey it could be worse and you buy a plastic interior DODGE!!
I'll start worrying about the feel of the interior when I pay $100K for a sports car with this kind of performance.... as long as $100K performance can be had for one third that amount, who cares if they rattle a bit?
If you can hear the squeeks, your exhaust isn't loud enough.....
I know what you are feeling. I do feel it's kind of a cheap feeling sometimes. But it's a Chevy so it is what it is. It's not the cheapness that I bought it for though. It was the quality design and engineering that went into it.
I had to touch up a couple spots that the factory actually missed on the interior door panel, took the dash apart and put it back together and it just never feels as tight as it was, the seats are wearing fast, etc. But they are things I can change. I will spruce up the interior and be happy with it. The great engineering goes to things like dual gas tanks for weight distribution and such, near 30 mpg on the highway, rock solid LS1/LS6, etc.

Not cheap, functional.. who needs bells and whistles in a performance car? I often turn the radio off just to listen to my car.. If I want steering wheel controls, OnStar, cup holders galore and a rear seat, I jump in my Silverado. If I want to go like hell, I jump in my Corvette and smile all day.
