Ok everyone, I am a car lover and non biast to other makes and models. I have always wanted a 1996 B/W Dodge Viper GTS. I possibly have the oppertunity to trade my car straight up for this one. It has 5763 miles on it and is bone stock. The dealer wants about 45k trade or cash. Blue book is like mid thirtys for the car. Mine is like 29k and I have 30k of car show miles. Mine has 593RWHP without nitrous and 500TQ. The car only lacks a forged bottom end to use the Nitrous. I originally bought the Nitrous first. N20 was only used on the DYNO.
The only thing that makes me leary is all the stuff I have put into mine and how good I have taken care of it. Not to mention in the next month or two it will be a feature in Corvette Enthusiast Magazine, and would really nice if it made the cover. How much do you all think I could get for my car if I sold it myself out-right? I really want to trade my car for it, but know that I might be able to get more on my own and put that money toward another 96 GTS, plus have a little money to pour into it. Everyone on here that knows me in general is aware that I don't abuse or beat my car. I do not race it and I only go to car shows. All things on my car are fully functional and professionally installed. I have put in around 80k-85k including what the car was bought for.
Here is the link to my myspace/ car profile it states all the info/pics/vids
Please let me know your honest opinions if I could get more or have a beter trade on a car for car deal.
If you always wanted one, I say go for it. You're going to get a lot of people telling you to stick with the Vette because of this forum, plus you're choice happens to be our #1 nemisis. With that being said, if that's the model year you want and the mileage is accurate, then do it. You're not going to run into this kind of oppurtunity often.
Can you afford 2 cars? With this market being the way it is you know whats not going to happen. Man, if I was you...I might be foolish enough to trade it in....if I can't afford 2 cars
Lol one of my favorite cars and always wanted was a Blue Viper ACR. Anyways, for reference I sold my 99 Red FRC (in sig) for $28,500 earlier this year. It had alot of money into it as well, but as you know its hard to sell a modded car and right now, it may be harder for someone to get a loan for it. Good luck with your choice, either way you cant go wrong
It's your call man. The Viper is a great car, for what it is. What it isn't is: it isn't comfortable, it isn't practical, and it isn't easy to drive.
You KNOW what you have in your car. Do you KNOW what someone has put into/done/maintained on the Viper?
Either way, make sure you get what you want. You only go round once, might as well be happy while your going.
I might wait 'til the Vette came out in the magazine. It won't affect trade-in but might increase what you might get from a private sale. The Viper is not going to sell before that happens ... these are times that folks are cutting back on luxuries.
Good luck with your decision.

as nice as your car is, it is really hard to sell a moded car for what its worth, if you can trade it, and you want a viper, I would say go for it and save yourself alot of headache trying to sell on ur own.
You have a highly modded vette, which will make it very hard to sell. You are never going to get close to what you put in the car.
I seriously doubt you will get more than about $5k over what a stock 01 Z06 sell for, which is around $20 to $25K. You are better off trading it straight-up for the Viper.
Also, your buyer probably won't be able to get a car loan because your car is too old.
There have been several highly modded vettes that have been sold in recent times and all for a lot less than what the sellers wanted, which was significantly less than what they had in them.
^^ What he said. Unless you plan to keep your car forever, it will be hard to get what you think it's worth when selling. This is a good opportunity to get into something else without taking a bath on resale.
