Hey guys and gals.....what do you use to prevent mice from building nests anywhere on or in your car while it is "sleeping" for the winter?
Lots of moth ***** or moth crystals, and fabric softener sheets. Be sure to put some in some kind of a cloth (like an old sock) and stuff them in the exhaust tips too.
To clarify, The car is in a non-heated garage and I have heard different oppinions on weather I should put it on jack stands and take the tires off and bag them or just slightly overinflate them and put carpet or cardboard under the tires
Wash and Wax. Put Sta Bil in the tank and make sure you run the engine for a few minutes. Put Moth ***** and Irish Spring soap bars in the engine compartment, trunk and interior. Inflate your tires at least 5 more pounds. It does not hurt to park on something to insulate the car from ground moisture. Hook up a battery tender. Put steel wool in the tail pipes. Place a dryer sheet on the top of each wheel. Kiss it and give it a hug...see you in the spring.
I put bounce sheets scattered about everywhere, (interior, engine bay)plus its at my mothers house and she has four (4) cats, so should be alright. Stuffed the exhaust with some rags.
I didnt go with moth ***** cuz that $h!t stinks! Sta-bil in gas tank.

Well said Thanks to CF I did that last year and she ran great all summer. Another thought is to make sure it got up to temp before you park it. Should help with moisture
we built our house in a heavily wooded area. it was this time of year, the mice and pack rats were moving in faster than we were. we sprinkled this stuff around a they disappeared. the odor was ever so slight.
Dryer sheets on each wheel and in the engine compartment.Place mouse bait along the baseboards in garage since mice will usually stay close to the wall.

I put pieces of old carpet under mine and slightly inflated the tires. Never had any problems with the tires.
I bought my 04 in Jan of 04 and have stored it every winter since for 5 or 6 months, I don't do anything to my tires other than make sure they are up to normal pressure when I store the car.(The lower temp of Mi winters will cause the pressure in the tires to drop as much as 3 or 4 psi). I've done this for 4 years now and never had a problem with the tires. I've heard that putting the car on jack stands, isn't good for the suspension. I don't know this for a fact, just something I've heard.
