I've been using Amsoil since the mid 80's and have always been an enthusiastic advocate of their products but I got the third notice of a price increase since the beginning of the year and am wondering for the first time in 25 years if it's worth it anymore with shipping, premium prices (yes, I'm a Preferred customer) and now frequent price increases. I have used Amsoil almost exclusively in all my cars all these years but I guess it's time to pull the calculator out and see what the damage will be to keep on doing this. The latest hike will be 3-8%, depending on market increases.
I just recently signed up, but do not plan on making money at it. figure I can make an order for my corvette club to stock anyone up on lubricants/mothers cleaning supplies. I really wanted to give it a go for a year to try out the high end (reflections) stuff from mothers that I can't find in a store around here.

Could you push your change intervals out further to cover the increase thereby keeping your cost the same before increase?

A good suggestion because I have always changed oil somewhat early but it seems I could switch to a somewhat cheaper synthetic alternative that would allow me to continue with my usual change intervals.
To be honest, the Castrol synthetic my dd MINI Cooper calls for is no cheaper than Amsoil and I'm putting almost 2K miles a month on that so oil changes come up pretty quickly. The turbo engine is sensitive to the oil type and oil level so I keep the interval at no more than 4K even though I have free service on the car. The oil change indicator on that car is purported to not come on for at least every 15K miles but, no way will I let it go that far.
Yeah well.... As stated before, I am a dealer and get the discounted rates. But what I save in discounts goes out the window in shipping charges. So as I said, Mobil 1 will be going in the car(s) from here on out.
Besides, unless you have a shop or a parts store, you can't really make any money off this product anyway.
