What happened to the vendor who sold the plastic "mold over" frame savers??? The were a composite plastic that wrapped around your frame and bolted together. I really dont like the idea of drilling a hole in the frame and putting a wheel on it, as that seems to be the only other kind offered.

I think he's from Canada...maybe post in the regional forum?
Drilling a hole through any piece like that will compromise its integrity, not that I plan on smacking the frame on anything hard enough to cause the structure to fail, even with a hole, but none the less I still dont like the idea of putting a hole in something permanent, or no so easy to replace when I have the option to avoid it.

Drilled a 3/8 in mine and mounted the Fatt Mammas and never has any issues and Have hit it hard a few times.
The frame you are talking about is replaceable, its not part of the chassis, it just a frame around the radiator section. But if your concerned about drilling a hole in it why don't you buy something like the skid plate that CCA sells and weld it on. http://www.customcorvetteaccessories...skidplate.html

I know its replaceable but from the looks of it, its not a fun job to do. I dunno im sure im making a bigger deal out of it than it really is. Its just hard to wrap my head around installing little wheels down there LOL. If he doesnt make the covers anymore i'll probably have to go the "fat mamma" route.
Hi guys, sorry I missed this thread early on. I seem to spend most of my time these days on the Canadian forum . The Frame Savers were ,I thought a great idea that worked . However great ideas don't always catch on , and as a result I stoped making the Frame Savers about 4 months ago. The demand just was't there. Those who have a set are the lucky ones.
Thanks for all your support guys

I got one of the first sets a while ago and couldn't be happier. On a lowered daily driver they take a beating (so do the rockers on the thousand speed bumps out here). I'm surprised that they didn't catch on. I should have bought another set to stick on when I finally wear through the set I have now. I'm about 1/3 of the way through the rocker savers in a few spots.
I just fixed mine this week by welding in a couple of new pieces of tube. I would go with a wheel/saver that tries to balance out the load (wheel on both sides or block/plate/wheel that goes under it). The tubing isn't very heavy and I personally would not want to put a wheel on only one side the frame because a big load would likely twist it.
