Trying to change the shift boot and the old one is glued on really tight on to the ring. No amount of pulling or prying is making it come out. The staples did come out easy though.
Any tips on how to take it out?
Last resort seems to cut the old boot and glue/staple the new one on top. It seems there is enough clearance for that to work but trying to remove the older one intact.
If it is an automatic, the shift boot is fastened with a nylon tie strap. Just turn the boot inside out, and cut the the tie strap. I am not sure about the manual's, but assume it would be a similar setup....
For complete instructions on how to remove boots for Auto or Manuals:
Pull the staples.
Pull back the boot from the inside of the ring, and use a razor blade to cut the old boot from the ring.
Do not break the plastic ring.
