Default Minimum clearance?

What is the lowest height on a jack you need in order to lift a vette? Most jacks start at 5 and 1/2 inch, right? Would those fit under a vette or would you need to get those special ones that start at like 3 inch

THe 5.5 inch jacks would probably not work, as I think the Vette's clearance is something like 5 or 5.5 inches to begin with. Also consider that your clearance can change slightly as your tires wear, or if you have a not-so-flat surface, or if you decide to lower the car later. If you had a jack that just BARELY worked, it might cause issues.

Also consider that if you use jacking pucks (highly recommended) that eats into your clearance another inch or so.

Your best bet is to look for a low-profile jack. Mine is a 3.5 inch and it works great, with plenty of clearance.

Wow!

No wonder why I always see you owners saying how bad it is when you go through speed bumps and drive ways.

The reason I was asking about the jack is because I wanted to get a jack that can take care of all the vehicles in the family. And I know those low profile jacks are extra expensive... and they only lift up to 13 inch?

I own 2 low pro jacks but due to a slight lowering job I have to roll up on race ramps just to get the jacks under it

It looks like the one I see at sears for $60. Is it better?

Also, for vettes, is the 13-14 inch max height enough for you to work with?

Oh nevermind.

Oh man, you go to U of I? I go to UIS here.

By the way, do you have a 6-speed and would like to let a vette lover test it?

There are no sticks anywhere near us for sale

Yes it's a Six Speed, Z06's only come in 6 speed. Actually all my Car's are Six Speed. I'm not a student, but I am very close to the U of I campus. Less than 5 minutes.. I don't let anyone drive my cars, But I'd be happy to give you a ride some time..

That's be cool. I know a few people at U of I. I don't really have time for traveling right now though, school and work

Let me know if you come to springfield, I have yet to see a Z06 let alone ride in one
