C5 car ramps
C5s are pretty low... and I wanna change my own oil safely. Also something that will not slide on the garage floor.
Thanks
Or... you find a guy with a lift to do it all for you, LOL...
I remember when I bought a midsize lift like 3.5 years ago. My problem was getting some ramps that were 10-11 feet in length and 3" high so that my lowered car can clear the entire lift. There were some long 1 piece aluminum ramps but they were very expensive based on my specs. One company wanted $1250 and that was a time when aluminum was cheap
So I bought aluminum ramps (with rungs) designed to load tractors onto trucks. Each ramp is 14" wide and 5' 6" in length. So I needed 2 in length to accomodate the length of the vette. Then I needed 2 more on top of those 2 to get the 3" clearance because each ramp was only about 1.5" in height. Thats 4 ramps in total but for only 1 side. So I needed 4 more
The rungs obviously are not a smooth surface for drive on but I solved that by permanently affixing 3/4" boards (4 boards in total). And Awhile back Harbor freight had a great sale on these ramps. The entire solution to get 11 feet of ramp and the necesssary clearance over my lift was only $162. As far as getting the car onto alumium ramps, I personally use 2 feet of home-made wooden ramps. They might even be able to come up with a product where the 4 foot incline ramp safely joins the 10 foot/3.5" high (Or greater) ramp

I initially tried the long and heavy 12" wide wood but the pressure treated was too heavy to move and I didnt want the ugliness permamanently on my race deck floor
It would be really nice if Race Ramps can make 2 long Race Ramps (1 for each side) that have a 5-6 degree approach angle. This incline will be about 4 feet in length until it reaches 3.5" or greater. Then the remainder of the ramp will extend out about 10 1/2 too 11 feet (enough so that the car can fit. They would do very nicely to replace what I currently have to get over my lift. But they would be mega expensive to make. Just the shipping alone wouldnt be cheap. But they would look something like this.

changing from 9 to 15 degrees was actually pretty clever to achieve the 10" height. 15 degrees might be a problem for some lowered cars, especialy if they have front spoilers for sure. But this is a pretty nice job. Now you get to work under the car without paying alot off $$$ for some of those lifts.

) a few days ago to change my oil. Mine are the Mike T. ones. Perfection!Hey, looky here!
If you lower your C5, you can make a pair of Mercury ramps or even easier, get some 6x6 and some 2x6 pieces to make very low angle ramps that get the front (and rear if necessary) up high enough to get your floor jack under the middle of the front cross member. These ramps don't need to be as wide or wider than your tires, since they are only temporary. Don't forget to use wheel chocks!
I also have a scissors lift similar to an above post.
I use wood ramps as he did but placed rollers on one end to make them easy to move.
(2) 1' X 2" X 14' screwed and glued together with a 45 degree angle cut on one end.
Rollers on the other end.
The rollers don't touch the floor when they are layed down flat.
I also put handles on the sides of them.
This all works for me and is cost effective.
it was more necessity than clever. To maintain the 9 degree rise... but reach a 10" lift heigth... the ramps would almost be as long as the car
(and a lot heavier).

Love 'em!
