I love my Z06, and I loved my 99 c5 too,, but before all that I used to own a 93 Eagle Talon TSi (AWD and modified).. I would go to autocross events and drag events with local Corvette groups.. I remember a lot of the guys kind of snickered at me and talked smack behind my back the same as this Lambo guy.. I still miss that car. It was not a vette, but it could hold its own.. It would embarass most c4s on the auto-x and 1/4 mile
so nitrous is what you guys use when you can't drive the car properly?
Why do people always have to throw modifications into the conversation? People with a slower car, always say the same thing, yah well I can slap a turbo or NOS and it’ll kill your car, who gives a $hit. From the showroom floor to the road a Lambo will beat a C5Z06 and even if you beat the driver, again who gives a $hit. He’s still driving a Lamborghini.
No need to be all pissy lol. If i had the money, ide still buy a Z06 8).
Sorry, I re-read my post and I did come off sounding pi$$y, didn’t mean to.
But I’ve been on many car specific forums and it’s always the same story. Some guy posts a question if his stock X can beat stock Y. And the responses are always the same thing. “Yah you’ll get beat, but with just NOS or intake/headers/exhaust or with a turbo or a supercharger, etc…” You’ll kick his a$$.
I just don’t understand why it always reverts to discussions about modifications?
Based on power-to-weight ratio, a C5 Z would need about 560 flywheel horsepower to beat one, which is about 460 rwhp.
Hmmm. The stock C6Z puts down ~450rwhp and is rated @ 505 flywheel hp. So If we add 10 more rwhp to the C5s than the C6Z comes stock we can claim our cars have 55 more flywheel hp?
Guys, the guy with the Lambo may (or may not) be a d!ckhead, but whether his car can "take" his Z06 is a non-issue. It's a Murci, for crying out loud! There isn't one person on this forum (OK, some delusional folks will now chime in) who wouldn't rather have THAT car rather than his Z06. It is a bad-***, super-expensive exotic that any enthusiast can appreciate.
When you get into the "my Z06 (or whatever) will beat him," it's no different that the doofus with the Honda/Pinto/POS that goes on his forum and talks about beating a Corvette. Who cares? You can't compare the two cars and if you think it's just about going fast in a straight line, you just don't get it.

And WTF? Since when was okay to talk about street racing on this forum?
Just race him and see what happens. If the Murci runs 12.6 then you should have him if you can drive. If the Murci 640 runs 11.8's then headers, intake, DR's and a tune may be needed to beat him.
Well we finally raced. I tried to get him to go from a dig but he said traffic was too bad for that and it was 1:30 in the morning. So, we end up on hillsborough ave and start from about a 20 roll. We hit it and I tried sliiping the clutch a little bit for traction but I need more practice, I was spinning pretty bad and he seemed to hook very nice bless his heart. I shut it down at about 90 and he just kept going and turned on flashers. He wasn't pulling very hard on me but he was leaving steadily. He had about 4-5 lengths when I shut it down. Need tires and spray and he will be beat. For a 300k car, I would expect more out of it. I had just got it back form dyno and tuning. Mine put down 387rwhp and 380trq. I have LG LT's and vararam.
That a boy!! Spray him like a skunk, 150 shot skunk!!
