Default Transport???

Alright guys, I need some help from the brotherhood. I have a C5Z and a Ducati in storage in Kansas City while im in Saudi. I return this December and may need to have those vehicles shipped down to Florida (Destin/Ft Walton Beach area). Has anyone had experience, good or bad, with any vehicle transport companies? Does anyone have ANY clue as to what this will run (so im not shocked into rage when I get the quote)? I know this subject has been tossed around before, but I figure this may be one that changes over time. Your help is greatly appreciated

My only experience with a shipper turned out to be an education. I discovered most of these "companies" are really just brokers hooked into a network of independent truckers that they farm the work out to. I had a car hauled from Phila to central pa and it was only like 200 bucks. I got some quotes when I was vette shopping and up/down the east coast was usually in the ballpark of 800-1000. The guy that transported my car was driving a full size dually pick up with a car hauler hitched behind. Not what I expected, but he did the transport cleanly with no damage. I don't know of any true companies that are singular in their service (like fed ex, ups etc...) As I said all the places I talked to just farmed out the work to locals in the right place at the right time so it's hard to say what the luck of the draw will bring. I think I booked through Dependable Auto Shippers and ended up getting Hamm's Hauling bringing the car to my door.
Good luck!

If you want it done right you need to get a company that owns their own trucks and not a broker as mentioned. When I bought my FRC and had it shipped to CA from IL it cost $1600, but it came enclosed and their service was awesome. I have a link below to the company I used.

http://www.sundayautotransport.com/

The driver was very courteous, and a total professional. I was very impressed by the service. Ive also heard Intercity is also very good. It just depends on how much you want to spend. I recommend you pay a bit more and get peace of mind knowing your vehicles will be taken care of.

PS..Ive also used a broker before, and never again. Let's just say the car arrived with some damage (to the new owner)

I used Horseless Carriage (enclosed trailer) this summer recommended from a member on this forum. First class act all the way. Picked up and delivered on time

Other options to check out are Intercity Lines & FedEx.

I used Intercity Lines to transport my Z06 from Naples, FL to PA. They have a lot of husband & wife teams that transport the vehicles. They're a top notch professional operation...no worries with them.

The pickup...

And home safe & sound...

I should be driving back down to Panama City after the holidays from North Dakota... Wouldn't have any heartache stopping in K.C. to get the Z. Might even be possible to get the bike if you can find a trailer to rent one way.

Wow, a lot of votes for Intercity!

BADMFR, thanks for the offer. Im really hoping to get them sooner than that though. And Im a bit leary of driving a car with drag radials across country mid winter! Let alone a guy Ive never met (no offense). But I do appreciate the offer, as I believe you are sincere.

For goodness sake do not use Dependable Auto Transport I got a quote from them. They were high, weren't 100% enclosed, and wanted 3 weeks after picking up a car to deliver it. I told them not to pick it up, and they did anyway! I told them I'd report it stolen if they didn't return it. When they brought it back it was a mess!

Use Exotic Car Transport. They are top notch, and no more expensive.

Mine broke down and needed to transport 250 miles for repair. Called a broker and one of local transportation company called. I told I need enclosed and a covered truck came to pick up. They are nice people and the service was good and I was satisfied.

I recently paid $550 for an enclosed transport from NC to Tampa, it was just over 500 miles.

Reach out to my buddy Kyle.
He can take care of it for you:

(405) 64zero-9four5six

Tell him Brian Tillett sent you.

He was transporting a boat for a friend of mine a few weeks ago, and he was rear ended which caused a small scuff on the back of the boat. Once he got to the marina for delivery, he took care of the repair/quote/order; paid the boat owner in cash for the repair, and Kyle took care of all the insurance stuff to make himself whole in the end. Kyle has been moving high end boats, cars, and anything else forever. You can't go wrong.
