Gauging Interest: German Headlight System

Basically I am just trying to see how many are seriously interested. That means funds and all. I don't know the time frame yet. Before I jump into this I want a test set and that is in the works with full documentation.
Pricing will be high. I would guess between $1,000-$1,500. You have to remember these things are imported (duties and taxes) and use pretty expensive light hardware. I am working on a few things to keep costs as low as I can for you guys though.
If you have any good comments or questions please leave them in this thread. I will pick the brains of these guys.

I like them, but not so much that I would pay $1000 -1500 (although I'm sure it's worth it).
Also, something doesn't seem quite right with those pop-ups only openning part way.

i would have to have alot of spare cash to blow to spend that kind of dough on something you only see when when its dark or raining. unless the quality of light is way better than other lighting (and i was night racing) to make it necessary to run these. on the other hand they do look kind of cool.

look more modern let alone look like they are brighter to
but i personally prefer the look of the racing head lights though bit pricey though but if they are new it is to be expected as with anything

There are lots of components I would gladly spend $1,000.00 - $1,500.00 on, but these would not be on that list. A reasonable price range for these lights would be $500.00 - $750.00 max. Then I would consider them.

Have you done your materials engineering yet? Such as wall thickness, selecting a polymer that will withstand high temps, road salt, high humidity, low temperature impact resistance, excellent dimensional stability? etc? I doubt it based on your last thread....best of luck attempting to bring this successfully to market!

I'm not making the lights. They were made and used in Germany for years now.

I would be all over a set, but for 1500 bones, I'd bite the bullet and go HID conversion for a fraction of that cost.
My question is however, and perhaps it has already been covered, but how is the headlight door modified to open so low with these? Seeing these headlights vs. stock, it looks like the stock doors open a couple of more inches up.

I personally like the lights opening lower, like the way it looks. Not sure the stock bezel will cut it though, think there would be a lotta space in there around the lights, something may let go or get ripped off at high speed.
Personally, Id like any focused HID kit that retains the pop up feature (just like the ACA's, which I cant find available).

Are these DOT approved? I would guess they are not. I bought some of the ACA's on a group buy. I think I paid a little over $750 and even with the group buy price I almost didn't buy because of the price. I would not spend $1000-$1500 especially if they are not DOT approved.

Hey, just trying to keep you out of trouble...weren't you talking about finding a source in the US to make a mold? That implies this idea has a looong way to go b4 production!
