I'm new to the site and I am looking to buy a C5, 02thru04. I plan to use as a daily driver. Are there any negatives to this? does the C5 have any weak links? not afraid to do routine maintainence or fixes. I've wanted one for a long time and can't imagine keeping it in the garage. Am I preaching to the choir?
Thanks in advance.
Paul

My 04 m6 is driven almost every day and I don’t have any problems and my father’s is a 95 without any major problems as long as you keep up the maintenance

Take care of the car, and it will last a long time. Nothing wrong with getting a C5 for a DD. I've got some Word files that may help you out in your selection process. If you would like a copy, PM me your e-mail address and I'll send them to you.
The 2 most common things I see are battery leakage and the drivers rear axle seal leaking at the diff. Check with any GM dealer for a printout of repairs to the Vette. You'll need the VIN.
The C5 is a very reliable car. But get an extended warranty if possible. Repairs can be expensive.
If you drive it regularly just check the oil life monitor (it's in the trip button selections) I change when it drops into the single digits! Oil ,filter, air filter and good quality premium gas,,and throw in a bottle of Techron every month or two and you should be good to go!! If you have a M6 tranny when you are just putting around or commuting,, just go 1st,3rd,5th,6th ans short shift (these motors have gobs of torque) and you should get low 20's in city driving,,and a little sanity on the highway will get you 30ish mpg!! These cars do it all. MPG like an econobox or can blast a low 13sec. 1/4 at a 100 and change!! Welcome to the fray
I've used my '03 as a daily driver since new. No problems. I've even done a few modifications to mine and with over 600 rwhp it still operates as a great daily driver. You'll love it.
As others have said, just do the regular stuff and keep and eye out. If you ever do have problems with anything on the car, check here first before letting someone else try and overcharge you for simple things. This has been the easiest car I've ever had as far as doing mechanical work.
