Default Attaching Exhaust Plate

I bought a used exhaust plate and have almost finished painting it.

How do you guys attach these? I've got the uber plastic velcro and I think the guy I bought it from said he used some epoxy.

What works best so I don't lose my new custom plate??

I used a couple of strips of 3m double sided tape, no problems on two Vettes. Just prep the area good first with some isopropyl alcohol.

That's what I used (I didn't even prep that well) and 2 years later it's still there. (I think, I better check when I leave work tonight)

Mine had one on it when I bought it. Looks like liquid nails is holding it on.

Sounds like my velcro will work. I like the idea of 4 strips - don't know why I was only thinking about two strips.

I'll prep it real well. I've been using lots of undercarriage spray on it to keep it black so I bet I need some elbow grease to get it clean!

Thanks everyone!!! I'll post some pics when I get it done. I think you guys will like it.

My Dad put one on our vert, but it is ever so slightly crooked and been on there for about 5 years. I figure I'll take it off soon and replace. I guess I'll saw it off with fishing line, just like I did the rear emblem?

I bought mine from Ecklers 4 years ago, used the alcohol prep and double sided tape they provided and it's never come off.

Make sure you clean the back of the plate as well.

3M molding tape. Most auto parts stores and Walmart carry it.
