Default C5 seats: C2 guy needs help.

I've got a C2 resto-mod, silver blue 64 roadster with white & dark blue interior (original) that I've been thinking about adding C5 seats. I need something that will match the interior & I'm trying to avoid buying seats and then having them re-done to match.

Here are some pics of my car to help you with color match:

Since white is not an option on C5 seats, I've been looking at black leather seats. I think that will work fine and not look out of place. I just saw some seats on ebay that are black with blue suede center. They look like they might work. I need opinions from the C5 color experts before I buy these.

Do you think they would look good?
Are the blue suede centers a good enough match to go with my colors?
Were these an original option?
Are there any known issues with these suede type seats?
Any other options I should consider?

Here are the seats on fleabay:

Those are not O.E.M. seats. In fact - nothing like that was ever offered.

O.E.M. seats in the C5 were always a solid color - black, Lt. Oak, Torch Red, Firethorn Red, Lt. Pewter or in the 2003 and 2004 models, Shale.

You might consider having a set of C5 seats done in the color you want - and for a job like that, I recommend Vette Essentials. They are not inexpensive, but they are the best!

I'm trying to stay away from dropping a lot of money buying seats and then having them redone. I want a good option that I can put in and take out when I need, keeping my old as an option (original look).

Does anyone have experience with these aftermarket seats?

Are they any good?

As blacksedan87 has said those are not OEM seats, and it also looks to me that they need new seat foam. I think I'd stay away from them. From the color of your car and with the white door skins I'd try to find something in a light blue to try to match the car or maybe a dark blue or maybe a two tone blue and white. If you're looking for a taller seat you might want to look at some C4 seats. Good luck in your search, you've got a beautiful car.

They are not after market seats.

They are factory seats that have been retro-fitted with after-market seat covers.

They should work really nice for you. The C6 seats use the same basic frame as the C5 seat so you could use those to.

They might be stock standard seats as was offered in the earlier C5's and on Z06's....but the skin on the seats is not stock. You might buy the seats listed on Ebay - then replace the foam for about $250, and there are several options under $1000 for seat skins, including Mid America.

But I frankly don't understand creating a beautiful street resto-mod and then going cheap on the interior.

Interior is one of the things that will make your car stand out from the rest....

That the interior is as important as the rest of the car. I personally like the C6 black seats myself and have installed a set in my C5.

I want the interior to look great, so I agree with your comments.

What I'm looking for is a "good" match now, that I can make perfect later on. So I'm in between going all black, or these black & blue.

My thought is that the black & blue might look better in the short run, vs the all black. Not Positive Though>

Down the road, I will re-skin them to be perfect.

Opinions on the short term...which way to go?

Awesome looking Vette! Im helping my dad restore a 63 Fuelie. Im not sure if C5 seats will fit but you might could go to a good interior guy and he can match it with some material he has.

happa,

C5 seats will fit, after modifying the seat tracks. It's not too difficult. I want to be able to go either way, original look, or newer look. The C2 seats suck for comfort. I like to drive mine. If it were in a show, I'd put the C2 seats back in (unless I get the C5's reskined and they look too good to take out).

So....should I go all black, or the black & blue?

Check out this 63 Resto-Mod over on the C2 board. He has also gone with C5 seats....As far as midyears go.. it doesn't get any better thant this one!

Bite the bullet! You've gone this far with the car. Just buy some trashed C5 seats and have them re-covered white.
You won't regret it.

Those dont look like C5 seats, they look a little more like C4 seats to me.

As far as the ebay seats...as others have mentioned those are not stock. He doesnt mention the color of his car or the vendor who made them so its hard to tell. But I think they will be darker than yours. Assuming that he had them made to try and match his C5. Looks like they are a close match to Electron Blue. I would ask him what color they were made to match and where he got them. If they are Vette Essentials, then they are excellent quality
