Default GoodYear Tires

Has anyone tried the Firestone FireHawk Wide Ovale tires. I recently purchased my first vette a 2003 Z06 and it needs tires. Haven't found many good reviews on the Goodyear Super Car Tires.
Feedback appreciated

You can search & find a lot of discussion on the the Firestone Wide Ovals.
Basically, they are cheaper than the Supercars and consequently not as sticky--the compound is hard. Because of the hard compound the tire will last longer. I'm not sure if they are any better in the rain.

I have the Supercars because I want max dry traction.

I originally planned to get the wide ovals based on the price but changed my mind after seeing pictures. The contact patch isn't as wide as the other tires in this size and it is noticable when you see it from behind.

Look at the Toyo Proxes too if you are undecided.

The firestones are great. Work better in the rain than the Goodyear SC.

I got 43,000 out of the Goodyears.

I've got the Wide Ovals on my Z. Can't really complain. They do seem to be a little short on grip especially when the tempature drops. They're coming off this spring and Michelin PS2s are going on.

Check out the Vredesteins from Tomz wheels, a vendor that supports this forum. Very reasonable, great traction, and a tread design that will catch everyone's attention. Do a forum search for Vredestein tires.
