Default Borla Question

I have a 97 with a SLP Loudmouth and was looking at running Borla #60061 (after cats into resonator then to rear section). Sorry no pic. I do plan on getting shorty headers at a later date (long tube are out of my price range). Does anyone run that Borla part? Any help would be great.

I just ordered 60061 because I have Borla's straight pipes on my car w/no mufflers. 60061 is an x-pipe with a muffler built into it. Bought the car from zenohsixx in NJ. Wont pass inspection in PA. With this new piece behind the cats and in front of the axles it's essentially an xr-1. I also ordered some band clamps, haven't decided if I want it welded in. I am heading on a week's vacation but will report on it after I get it installed when I return.

Well took delivery of this piece yesterday and it's being installed today...on the lift as I type. Installer is having a little trouble aligning the flanges with the straight pipes (Borla part# 12649) on the rear which were installed by the previous owner after he removed the stock mufflers. The rear part of this new piece is contacting the transaxle. He is working to lower the exhaust hanger under the center of the car to try and release the upward tension so it avoids the tranny. bottom line the shape of this thing follows different contours from stock so it's not fitting perfectly but he thinks he can get it in.

And turns out I dont need the band clamps I ordered so I will return them. The front end of this thing has a larger O.D. so the pipes that extend from the cats will slip into this new piece and it comes with clamps for those two connections. The rear has flanges that match the flanges on the axle back pipes and bolts up there.

woohoo ... installed! sounds good. still pretty loud, but more subdued than straight pipes - but no annoying drone, no clatter, no backfire-like pops on decel. I think this combo is a bit louder than the stinger cat-back which I have heard before.

he had to jimmy around with the center hanger. took 2 addt'l hours of labor which Borla agreed to pick up. GREAT customer service from Borla.
