Default Downsouthvettes Leather Console installed [Pics]

I troll around the C6 forum from time to time and I have always been highly impressed with the interior work that forum vendor Downsouthvettes does with the C6.

For those of you who have never seen Gerardo's work, just do an advanced search for threads started by "Downsouthvettes" in C6 gen and take a look at his pics and prepare to be amazed.

Earlier this year, I replaced my seat covers with an aftermarket set. After I installed the new covers and had the old covers laying around, I contacted Gerardo because I wanted to see if he would be open to the idea of his company modding C5 interiors.

After talking with Gerardo, I went ahead and sent him my covers so that he could use them as a pattern so he could start the process of making products for the C5.

Late last week, I had the pleasure of receiving a generous sample of Gerardo's product and took some pics.

Here's Gerardo's pics of what I received in the thread he posted here.

Here's some of my installed pics of what he sent me.

The color almost exactly matches the seats and the stock door panels. My e-brake/shifter boot and welt are a different color, but that's because I bought them from a different vendor. I plan on getting a matching set of these from Gerardo as well.

I am simply amazed at the quality of this console, Gerardo does some fabulous work. The console has extremely tight fit, no loose corners or sagging bits. I was surprised and pleased to find that the top of the console lid is not merely covered with leather, but it is has extra padding added and super cushion-y. It makes my aftermarket door arm rests feel hard as rocks...it's that good.

The console slid right in, with the only speedbump being that I had to change the console lock. Changing the lock is a very simple matter. All you need to do is pull this U-shaped clip that keeps the lock in place and pull the lock straight out of the hole. The other thing is that Gerardo not only puts this gorgeous leather on the outside of the console, he puts it on the inside of this badboy too.

The leather on the inside makes the fuel door switch just a bit stiff to activate, but it is definately something that I can live with as a tradeoff for this piece.

I cannot express how pleased I am to have this piece in the car. It feels like heaven on my elbow and the smell makes the car feel like new again. I am looking forward to doing more work with Gerardo, as I want to do a matching radio bezel next.

Please give Gerardo a warm welcome to the C5 supporting vendor ranks and consider using him as your source of interior leather work, you won't be disappointed!

That looks really good I think there needs to be some work on the interior of the console though.

But yeah that's nice.

Good lord Jason! CONGRATS on your new interior! Seems you have found yet another upgrade for us all to covet(as usual)! I'll have to check into some interior candy myself. Gerardo's product looks top flight for sure!

Thanks for your foot work to help get this option rolling for the rest of us C5ers. Gorgeous!

That is an awesome piece. I can only imagine though that maintainance on that would be the only real concern. Anyone keeping there car outside would definitely want to keep that treated with leather treatment almost all the time.

That looks like a really nice piece, the padding sounds great. I'd like to see what he could do the with the radio bezel too.
