I have the MTI True Ram Air intake and really like it. It fits like factory as it uses the factory shroud, it actually still had the GM Parts sticker attached to it. It is similar to the Callaway with a few slight differences. Changing or cleaning the filter on the Callaway might be easier and the Callaway moves your maf sensor.
The stock exhaust has nothing to do with if the intake will make power or not. People can make over 600whp with a supercharger and stock headers, cats, and catback.
Stock headers?
I think you mean exhaust manifolds.
Anyway, increasing air intake doesn't do much without a full exhaust.
An aftermarket intake will give you 10 HP at best on a stock motor and that is at the top end of the RPM band. In a 1/4 mile race, that might be helpful. On the street you would never feel it.
Anyway to properly supercharge a C5 there is LOT more involved than just slapping it on a totally stock car.

Wow..... I've followed this thread and searched others and finally I think my mind is made up. First let me say I do not track my car nor is it a DD. I just want to tweak a little here and there. My brother in law swears by the Vararam but he has headers, X-pipe and Borla Stingers. I've looked at zip tie, flip tie,Halltech, Calloway, .... All so

Okay you are right.
All of us with Vararams who actually take our cars to the track are idiots because Chemdawg from the internet has a conspiracy against companies that manufacture intakes for cars.
Sometime I seriously wonder about people on this forum

You are so not getting what I am saying. If you truly believe that a VaraRam on a stock motor is going to give you a bump of 40 HP like the company claims then nothing I say is going to convince you otherwise.
I never said that a different intake isn't a help for an otherwise stock car. The stock air box is a indeed a restriction because GM had to make the intake quiet. However, I did say that IMHO, it really wasn't worth it unless you are planning bigger mods down the road.
In every post I made on this subject I acknowledge that depending on the intake you will get a max of perhaps 10 HP at the upper RPM range. If you race your Vette, that is a help. But you seem to be of the belief that a simple intake change is a big thing and it really isn't.
That is not some "conspiracy theory".
