dont forget another 500-700 for a tune and the labor for installation.. plus the misc goodies like fluids, belts, plugs, etc..etc..

Also dont forget as your increase power items downstream (driveline) become less reliable because they are not designed to withstand those loads.. be prepared to upgrade the read end/trans axle, half shafts, clutch, transmisssion, etc..etc..

I've been down that path with many cars.. its fun.. but costs lots more than you think.. there is a reason there are so many modified cars in teh for sale sections..

However.. no doubt it'll be fun, fun, fun!

^^^
you don't gotta drag the idea of it.

Plenty of cars are living with more hp than that on otherwise stock cars with very few other mods. Clutch is a given though.

It's a lsx for pete's sake. I personally don't know of any that haven't been highly modified.

Not knocking the idea.. just setting a picture of what my past experiance with a few of my other cars has been.. Its good to know what you're getting in to before you are there..

As for an LSx not modified.. now you know at least one!

Talk to one of the vendors here about a head/cam combo featuring the TFS heads. You'll get a proven system, and great customer service. I would recommend ECS, or Vengeance, among others who do TFS combos. Maybe even get a better price? I bought my TFS heads directly from the company that does the machine work on ALL the Trickflow LS heads, TEA. They gave me great service, and also custom port work above and beyond the CNC program. I would definitely have the heads milled for more compression. BTW, the above naysayer is right; you have to make other, costly mods to accomodate your added power. You just have to decide if it's worth it. Your S/O may not be too happy about the stink, shake, rattle and roll.

I haven't checked lately, but for the TFS 215c heads, there are 2
different ones.

1-As Cast
2-CNC Ported by TEA http://www.totalengineairflow.com

You want #2. They cost about $2,395. FYI, the heads sell as 215s, but are really 219s. For the price summit is offering, that is not bad. I would be curious which RR they are including. I used the Harland Sharps, though no real opinion there. One significant factor is TEA will deck the heads at no charge. You do not want to install a 64cc head on an normally aspirated engine. You want 59 to 61cc chambers for good compression and power. I think the 61cc I had resulted in around 220psi static cranking compression and I'm guessing 11.25+:1 CR.

I have used both the 215 TEA CNC head on 346 and now have TFS 235s on my 402. They produce good power.
