Want to buy halltech intake for my 03Z, but one thing is stopping me. Can the filters be cleaned or do you have to buy a new filter everytime its dirty? Looked on halltech wedsite and there is nothing on it about being able to clean their filters. Every other intake company website (ie. Calloway, K&N, Donalson, VR) has something on there about being able to clean and re-oil their filters, so why not Halltech? Tried calling them but no one ever picks up!!!

This is the text from an email I just received from Mr. Hall. I was curious about Cal. smog requirements, and the ability to clean the filter.

We’ve been selling our intake in CA for 11 years and never had an issue with SMOG. Just put the stock intake back on for one day. Filter material is cleanable and is identical to K&N. I doubt that their system is CARB legal either or they would advertise that fact.
I believe HALLTECH is now using S&B FILTERS (CA) in their systems. They're a very good filter used by many after market company air intakes. They'll clean just like any other cotton gauze filter.
S&B FILTERS sells their own cleaning kits because unlike other filter vendors, they make their filters in two colors (red and blue), so the oil is available in colors. The S&B FILTERS cleaning kit includes a small measured syringe that makes over oiling a cotton gauze filter very easy and safe compared to an aerosol application.
But, if you receive a red filter in the HALLTECH system, the K&N cleaning kit will work just fine.
While it's difficult to find on the HALLTECH site, I found this information regarding cleaning of their filters... http://www.sbfilters.com/filter_cleaning.php
